The day finally arrived. The old roof was 38 years old. Pretty ratty! Only reason it lasted this long was the steep pitch. Wif helped with the tear off, unloading the wheeler into the trailer. Didn't have roof jacks so I made my own plank hanger. Last roof I ever did was...this one as a matter of fact. Had to replace about 6 square feet of OSB on the front side and 8 on the back. Also fabbed up a custom welded SS flashing around the fence post where it meets the roof. Always caught fir needles and rotted the OSB there. Got to buy a new coil nailer. Roofer friend recommended a Max gun but just a little to expensive for one or two time use so I got an Aeropro Hitachi clone for a lot less that the warehouse supply people said was a good cheaper gun. They said a casual user would never wear it out. Worked flawlessly. Anyway, it's done and ready to load the empty side for winter after the coming one. Glad it's over, it was a shock to my system to have to work again!
Looks great! A job well done. I like your roof jack. A number of years ago, my then boss said he wished he could open up his kitchen/dining room into the living room. Just needed to take out some studs and put in a beam. I said I could help him do it. We did. It took a day to do the job. He loved it. Said if I ever needed any help let him know. A couple of years go by...we have a massive hail storm. Destroyed my roof. I decided to do it myself. I asked if he could help me strip the roof. Sure, he said. When we got done that day, he told me he was never going to ask for my help again. Roofing is almost as bad as concrete....there's nothing easy about any of it.
Lotta work... great job metalcuttr ... reminds me I gotta screw some metal down on my garage shed roof. Seems I may have ripped the h*ll out of the old shingles, raking snow off...
Nice job !! I have a shed to do at my mom's house that dad built just before he passed. The shingles look like leftovers from his house and garage but they just haven't weathered well on his shed.

I got it done over a week and a half span. Weather so hot on some days only worked a couple hours. Probably did more setting up and putting away than actual roofing. Couple of those days I took off to do other things. Know all about the back and knees thing!
Thanks about the backyard. I have just started my yearly war with the raccoons tearing up the yard to get to the crane fly grubs (I don't poison the yard). Just live trapped one last night and released it on Ft. Lewis out in the woods near coyote central!

Coming from a former professional roofer (still do some, but small scale, repairs etc.) you did an awesome job and i mean that sincerely! I cant believe you used a nail gun though! Hate the darn things for shingles.
I only used 7/8" nails because I didn't want a lot of pierce throughs to be seen inside (when empty or partially so). I have battered up my fingers enough without doing it more when starting those short nails with a roofing hammer. Besides, I wanted a new toy! Thanks for the positive report!
