Beautiful morning. So, I got after it. Divide and conquer, I say. The short rack in the back gets some Used the 2-wheeler to give some a short ride A T-post and a couple of saplings, makes a rack. Another short rack gets some One rack is free! What's left gets moved to the free rack. 2nd rack is free. That's enough for today. These are what will be going under the corners, after I rake up the area Time for Aleve and shower.
I had two sides fall over in my Simple pallet firewood rack but I find it comes from the outer ends drying faster than the middle. out of 15 racks, having one side on two of them have a blow out isn't bad, especially compared to the disaster I used to have every spring when I did single rows on beams.
If your stacks are side by side with a space between, then halfway up put some poles in crossways that span all the stacks then keep on sticking. The poles will stabilize tall stacks.
I got the area raked and cleaned up. Got the new support blocks in place. Much more substantial than the smaller bricks that were there And now it's time to refill The red oak is for 21-22. You can see the lighter color wood in the lower right. That's some recently split maple and ash. It'll be ready when the oak is. I'll get to the other rack tomorrow.
Just couldn't "like" your first post Mike, just too emotional of a sight for me. 3 pages later an the planets are now re aligned and all is good.
All re-stacked and covered for a couple of years I then went around the woodyard checking on what racks I'd be buying from next year, and made sure their coverings were appropriately long and wide enough. I made a few adjustments. I suspect this is the last update to this sad-to-happy thread
New stack looks real good. Glad you got a new support system in place. Do you check stacks from time to time for leaning?
