I lost count how many times I pulled the coil to get the wiring chased back to where I thought it was right and the grommet fit and the white wall set right between the cylinder and carb house. I’m usually pretty good about taking pictures on the way out but missed this one.

The next trick will be treading everything through the throttle/handle and over the AV mounts simultaneously.

Two points on the Warhawk so far; the screw for the ground off of the 029 cylinder was too small for the Warhawk 039. But a short Husky M4 worked perfect, wish I took that pic.
And the 039 kit doesn’t come with a plug or a decomposing valve. Luckily I had one already, brand new and I don’t remember why.

I think this was a practice run, building the brake back before putting the rear handle/cover on first. I might be able to get done with the brake on but I think it’ll just be easier to pull the brake, get the AV mounts and cover together and build the brake again.
No pics, I did check compression and it’s about 165

I ended leaving the brake on and was able to make it work.

Had to put a hole in the cover to account for the decomp valve. Once I did compression went from 120 to a little over 180.

I’ll put a b/c on it tomorrow and see how that goes.

Looking forward to making some cuts tomorrow!

Grabbed a couple more projects this morning cheap.

MS361 in the back and a 046. Both came with a lot of parts and all the plastic and covers.

the closest one is not a 046
it is a 066 the 046 has the carb mount made into it
also the 046 doesnt have the av mount on the clutch side
what size are the cylinder mount screws
    if 5mm its a 064 if 6mm its a 066
also can tell by the oil pump and on the 066 the flywheel is wider than 064
do you have the recoil ?

Pretty sure it a 064 now that I’ve had time to mess with it.

Seller wasn’t sure when I bought it but he had told me he thought it was a 046.

    52mm bore.

    yes 064 thin cylinder base
make sure if you do a complete rebuild you get the gasket set for the early 066/064 they are more expensive but the regular 066 /660 gasket wont work

    Thanks!
Stihl tearing it down for clean up. Just decided an hour ago to buy the flywheel puller. It’s not coming off easy.

    I’m going to build it.
See how it turns out. This is one I’d like to keep.
    I’ll build the 361 too.
That’s how end up with these saws for the most part. Gettem in salvage condition and cheap and build them.
Some I sell to finance the habit of building them back.

Right tool for the job! 11 beans at HLS and a minute or less.
Now for clean up and leak check on the 064AV
