Oh and i should add, i only have the stupid bumper ball, it does have beefed up bracketing under the bumper. Is there even a smaller dump i could get with my truck- 2017 silverado 8 cylinder. It does have the brackets for safety chains, its pretty beefy bracket setup under the bumper

it would probably handle the trailer ok if you had a reciever hitch but you absolutely need the brake controller to use the trailer brakes

Mine is similar that i pull with my F-150. You have to know what your truck hitch is rated for. That said my F-250 pulls it waaaay better. Probably close to maxed out with this load of green wood mostly oak.

X2, brake controller and using good judgment when loading and you will be fine. It’s easy to overload a dump trailer but I see 1/2 tons pulling them.

My 2010 Silverado 5.3 has a tow package and is rated for 10,500 lbs but I wouldn’t exceed 7-8k with it to be safe. What’s yours rated for? A one ton dually is a much better choices than any half ton with that much weight though. Either way, trailer brakes are a must over 2500 lbs.

Towing capacity for my truck... Screenshot_20200128-061421_Chrome.jpg Trailer weighs about 1500... 20180228_133150.jpg Was I a bit over? Yes, it was loaded right...Most weight on the tongue. It just looks wrong due to the road grade. The things we do for free firewood. Future scores like this will be 2 trips...Truck is getting tired. I just wanted to be done with this score already. All that is split there had to chucked up 12 basement steps out a bilco door, almost a cord. I had already made 2 trips full of rounds the day before, and this day I stuck the truck earlier.... 20180228_102259.jpg

Seems a little conservative to me, but better safe than sorry I suppose.
