Urban Woods It works well for all my wood. I am willing to share with anyone who would like the details of it.

maybe the squirrels are the ones from ReelFaster's shed. Funny coincidence since he posted. I picked up a squirrel eradication jobon an old Victorian house. Regular customer of mine. They chewed thought the trim on a decorative shelf almost 30' up. My 32' ladder barely reached. I put moth balls near the holes to discourage them from coming in and leaving prior to my covering the holes with metal. Well it worked. No squirrels on the third floor apt where they were, but now are heard i another place. Lady texts me the other night tells me this. Have to see them after Christmas.
I had recommended reelfasters place, but i can send them to your place? Ill tell them the food is great?

I’ve always called them clinkers, just a couple days ago I was thinking about posting a couple questions about them. They don’t bother me, but I don’t try to use the ash grate in my stove. I just scoop it out when it gets about so full.

My fire box is way to deep to use a shovel in and like I mentioned, it was one solid brick. I love the ability to shake the grates and remove a pan.

Yeah, they took down two big oak trees by my neighbors house and I was pretty confident they wouldn't bother trying to relocate to my home because it is aluminum sided and now there are no big trees to get them easy access to the roof. I do have the power line that comes over the larger footprint first floor roof and that takes them half way there to the top 3rd floor attic level. From the power line they can grab the aluminum siding vertical corner trim cap and like pole dancers with claws pull themselves up to the roof soffits.
Like your job situation I also have a Victorian house and It's very high where they nested. I only tried getting them out of that spot with a ladder once years ago, but I was also balancing near the top rung and I decided never to do that again. My house is very tall with high ceilings so an amateur like me has no business messing with 30ft ladders. That nest spot is so high up that they went undetected for a while because you really have to go out of your way to look up there. It was only when they chewed their way into the attic space that my daughter heard them running around above her bedroom ceiling and thought it was our chihuahua haha. Though they caused some damage, I was glad I could get at them from inside the attic at least.

Erik B , that slip on / recessed splitter plate is a great idea!

That is a nice build. It looks like a well thought out solution, and it is worthy of adding to T.Jeff Veal 's thread of tools-of-the-trade-or-your-inventions.29916/

I may just have to copy it for use in splitting some stringy pignut hickory. It would save some second cycling of the splitter.

    Thanks for sharing.

Way to adapt and overcome! :binoculars::dex:
