Chainsaw pants is all I've worn for the last 15 years . I find them way more comfortable than chaps . As far as the price , I consider them like "Designer" jeans Lol
I went with the following: Product and Equipment Accessories for ECHO units including Safety Accessories
I have a pair of Filson waxed tin pants en route to me that I plan to use for cutting this winter. We'll see how it goes with them.
Picked up my Stihl Denim protective pants today. Dealer was nice enough to order 2 prs in different sizes just in case. I am normally a 34-34, so the size M 34-36 waist and 34 inseam fit perfect. With the elastic waist, I will be able to wear jeans under them in really cold conditions.
Good deal, nice that they fit well. I have the Husqvarna Classic pants. I really like them, so easy and no straps or buckles, but i may need to go up a size to wear jeans underneath. The size medium are listed as 32-34 waist. I wear 34 jeans but even with the elastic waist they would be too snug for anything but a thin base layer.
Wore them the other day 28 F, with jeans under them, way to hot. Today 17 F, no jeans under them = just rite, warmed up to lower 30's and sun, still OK.
Finished product. Neighbor lady did a great job on the chaps. Now all I have to do is wait for the weekend to try them out.
YES! I have had the Labonville full-wrap chaps which I really like, but they get hung up all the time getting on and off the tractor. A few years ago I picked up a pair of full chainsaw pants on sale from an arborist supplier like TreeStuff, Sherrill, etc., not sure which one. They are way better for tractor days, but they are warmer than chaps. Great for this time of year.
I have the Orange Husqvarna Chaps, I like them, a bit warm in the summer, but would have to be better than full pants, in that regard. I haven't tried pants, but I don't find the chaps all that uncomfortable, or inconvenient, especially when I consider the potential of NOT using them. I have a pair of jeans that I usually wear under them when cutting, the Three Holes in the left leg remind me WHY I should wear my chaps, I was on some footing that wasn't as stable as I thought cutting on a steeper than I should have been on hillside, and I got VERY LUCKY, 3 holes in the jeans, not a scratch under them, but it could have turned out very Badly. Yep, regardless of the cost, they are all cheaper than a trip to the ER, never mind the Pain and Time lost. Use whatever is most comfortable for You, but USE THEM I just Hope that None of you ever have to put them to the test, and find out if they were effective or not. Just Like Auto insurance, Dayum Good to HAVE, Not so Good to USE Doug
