Either way. I would be inclined to leak check and then run it.

I'd run it and see if there are strange noises or heat build up

I'd pass on running it until you give it a good once over - air filter shifted and carb may be loose - enough to draw some air - might be too tempting to let it run for a bit and burn her up. If it were my saw, I'd be breaking her down and checking for all damage I could find - put her back together if all seems well and then test her out. Cheers!

Well, if it was a Stihl, he would still be cutting wood with it and we wouldn't be having this discussion ;)

I'd just try starting it. Being mashed into the mud isn't going to cut an impulse line or screw up an intake manifold -- at least, not without tearing off the top cover first. It's not going to ruin the crank seals, either. If such an accident were to cause an air leak, I expect it would be a crankcase fracture. That doesn't seem likely given the condition of the surrounding plastic, but if the case is somehow cracked then the saw is scrap no matter what you do. I suppose that discovering a leak via vac/pressure test rather than by running it might preserve the value of the top end, but I'm not sure I could be quite that cautious in your position.

I asked him if the clutch ran true to make sure the crank wasn't bent for a reason. At that point, with the photos and the fact that the major mechanicals seem to be ok, the saw should be safe to try and start.

If it acts funny then shut it down but running it for 20-30 seconds with no load, even with an air leak isn't going to fry the top end.

    Options as I see them.
Put it on craigslist as slightly used only cut a few cords !:)
Send a picture of it and a picture of the tractor to Husky and maybe they will send you a new saw for the use of it in their advertising!:)
Post it here as free and then lock your door before the "Hoard" beats it down!:)
    Hope for the best!

That 346 dont look to bad at all for what you said it went through. Tear down, look over, fix it back up. Easy as pie.

Ran it for a minute.... she sounds good! Minus the gas spraying everywhere. Lucky lucky lucky.

Anyone know where I can find a silver clutch cover? All I've seen are the orange. Any thing I should change while its torn down?

I'd put a orange cover on it.
