Found a local dealer with a Timberwolf in stock , I’m afraid to go and look at it . Probably would bring it home

Some folks are just plain stubborn Dennis!

You should have come over , I would have hired you to keep the fire going . The new 30”x10’ft evaporator eats the wood up fast .
Made 430 gallons , hauled 19,600 gallons of sap .

Thanks for the invite, I’ll see if I can swing over , I have 90 places to open up that week at the park .

The 4 way is a great option on a push through splitter. It takes a bit to learn to stage the rounds by size to avoid as much re-splitting as possible. The wedge isn't actually adjustable, but I put a small shim in it to raise it 2" for bigger splits. It's worked very well. Log lift is a real back saver.

I've never used one, but I have read that several places. I thought if it got jammed get a block of wood and let the splitter push it through.

I split mostly by hand so them “ moose knuckles “ that require a splitter usually stay in the woods or go to my buddies outdoor stove. I have found having about 3 guys on a splitter makes it go much faster

If you come to the gtg, I'm sure that Cole is bringing his big splitter and you might get some ideas. Sorry, there is a picture of it somewhere on here but right now I don't know where. It may have been in a PM.

But for sure it appears we will have several splitters here.

That is a lot of syrup!!!!

my splitter was vertical - horz. tried the vert. on big rounds- pia moving under wedge and over that step plate even on hard ground. So after I mangeled enough section of it I rebuilt it as horz only - big stuff I put in tractor bucket or fork lift to get them on beam . I use a thin wedge design with a spreader behind it - slices through rather than brute force to render it asunder.
i have made 4 way units even had one cast up, did not like them even with back set wings ( call it a 2 stage split)

Made it over to a Timberwolf dealer today. Very nice splitters , expensive but look well made .
I did find out that Timberwolf is no longer making their line of spitters anymore . Tw-1 and the rest are done . They are in the process of updating all the designs and features . Makes me wonder how bad the dealer would like to sell me a splitter?

Timberwolf was acquired by Automated Biomass. Biomass splitters are ergonomic and user friendly. They just recently designed the Timberwolf alpha which looks like a big bad TW splitter, just raised up and more user friendly. IMO it would be the ultimate splitter.

We built the rack behind the foot for big rounds. They slide pretty easy on it. Roll one up, flip it over and split. We have split some 46" rounds or bigger like that.
