Spring is in the air, so we threw some thighs on the keyhole this evening. Cooked over a bed of oak coals, with some damp plum wood for flavor. Sprayed with my vinegar/olive oil mix, and sprinkled with some Hartley's BBQ potato chip powder!! Look at that flavorful smoke!!! It was delicious! And we made plenty enough for leftovers..... Anyone else taking advantage of the weather to cook outside?
Well I already ate...but now my mouth is watering...thanks a lot buddy! Haven't cooked outside yet...
Looks awesome Scotty, got a buddy coming over today to help me dig a trench for some. Electrical conduit, going to throw some baby backs on my fire pit for the 3-2-1 method and some chicken wings. Love this weather.
Beers/Ribs/Chicken wings were flowing here in the Brennan’s Backyard. Tried some Royal Oak Lump Charcoal today with some Apple chunks and an occasional piece of red oak. Man, I love this open fire cooking. Ribs were unbelievable. Chicken wings I did on the gas grill.
Looking at building a keyhole of my own this spring. Any tips or ideas as far as size and materials? I’d love to use stone but I’ve seen a lot of them with unilock blocks. I’d be curious to see how they would hold up?
