Cheap Chinese knock-off all the way. For the price of a pro saw, you can get a new one annually for the next 10 years.

    16" Dream saw ?
    Easy decision!
    Ms362 or a 562xp with a 16" bar
File down the rakers a bit & watch your toes, round will be falling fast. :)

I would go big and shed weight with a smaller bar (16") ;) . The 562xp and 362c-m are insanely strong machines. Both are 59 cc (that's a 50 cc saw ;)) and are not super heavy.

Buy it with a 25" bar and get a 16". You would never need another saw in the arsenal. Would have the fastest saw with a 16" and also able to cover larger logs with a 25".

But you can't go wrong with the 2253 or another 550.. Solid machines that just cut. Very well... :)

As MasterMech stated, there will be several new models at the GTG. Maybe wait until then to buy something. It's only 9 days away  :) ;)

Fine with it, I cut and split wood for over 30 years.

I've had the 2152 for almost a decade and have always liked it. I typically have it set up with a 20" bar but rarely use it for anything other than topping trees. Firewood gets made with the 371/2095:saw:

What's the weight difference of a 20" bar and a loop of chain versus 16"? I know you guys got scales out there....

    I don't have a 16" ES, but a 20" is 2 lbs 13.8 oz.

And the 25" (same as Husq 24"/84 DL) is 3 lbs 10.7 oz.

And the 28" ES Light is lighter than the 20" at an astonishing 2 lbs 13.4 oz.

If you take the 4" difference off the 25/24" to the 20", and deduct a few oz for the chain, it's about 1 lb lighter. :)

Also if you use an E bar instead of an ES you would lose even more weight. Don't forget that the laws of physics say that shortening the bar will reduce the weight "felt" by the operator at the handle, even if the weight of the longer bar is the same as the short one.

This is very true . These are some of the reasons why I make the saw decisions I do . The further out a weight sticks out from the body.........it puts hundreds of pounds of pressure on the disks in the lower back . I had a book one time that said if you pick up an 8 oz. glass of water at full arms length ...and lift it straight up..it puts some crazy 400 lbs of pressure on the lower back disks . The numbers in my memory may not be exact ...........but its a general idea anyway . I have had to study lots of these types of things due to my own physical condition......so it pays to research and be smart . Everyone is different......but for me its the lower 50cc saws and down..with 14 to 16 inch bars that do the trick most days . Its all about being smart...and getting the right equipment to help make jobs easier .These days...there quite a selection to help us all . Its a good time to be alive !!!

    I think you need a 3.7 Craftsman...

If that is the goal here, the 2152 is a screamer with a 14" bar on it. While I certainly wouldn't argue with the 2253's 15% more power at the same weight using the 20" bar, I couldn't ever justify replacing the 2152 especially if only using the shorter bar.
