Good point for sure, and I had considered the same thing.
Guess they’d go to the hoard of 5 or so bags I have left...
Of course, since the VDub Cave is so inviting (basement with wood stove), we only ran the pellet stove a handful of times back in the fall....

Added a little to the stash this weekend - picked up a 60-pack of these AWFs. Really liking them a lot.

The time has come to finish the new controller on the Big Whitfield.

The room air fan control has taken a goofy twist and the fan makes weird noises when it starts up now.

The control board triac is giving up....

Decided to finish the new box.

I drew up a complete updated schematic on a large poster sized sheet and finished ordering the last components.

I mounted the box on a makeshift mount in my office so I can sit and work on it.

I had done testing on the design before this and it worked, but changed some stuff to make things better.

Got all the relays and timers mounted except one DPDT cube relay that starts the fans at full voltage and then reverts to controlled speed after 20 seconds.

Fitted the main control cable and that's about it for today.

The one DPDT cube is in transit, and will be here in a few days.

I had the 11 pin octal plug base to mount it with.

Getting the schematic complete, checking and rechecking it and then numbering all the wires as well as transcribing it all complete on paper as to what and where each wire ## goes and does in a "TEXT FORMAT" took a couple days.. MY HEAD HURTS

Fully variable fan speed controllers with panel mounted meters and pots.

Fans start at 120 volts and after 20 seconds will revert to presets.

    Volt meters read 0-150 volts

Indicator lamps to indicate system power on, auger feeding, draft fan on, room air fan on, power to auger timer and low limit snap switch closed (stove up to temp)

    THIS THING IS A BEAST...

Often I come to this site and realize how much smarter a lot of the folks on here are than me.

This is one of those times.

    Nice work Snowy!

Thank you folks for the
Actually I am not a super brain by any means.

I just graphed out what I needed to accomplish and then set about putting together a plan of how to get it done.

A pellet stove is pretty simple if you think about it.

A fire with the means to add fuel on a controlled basis and a fan to blow the heat around.

That may be a tad over simplified.... but pretty close.

Safety devices are certainly in the plan too.

I added a few more safeties over and above what the factory had.

Added a pressure switch into the convection plenum to shut off the fuel feed if the fan quits.
Added a vacuum switch to the fire box before the draft fan to shut the fuel feed off if the draft fan quits.

All the original safeties are retained in working order.

    Basic electrical principles are followed.

All industrial quality relays and timers rated at 120 volt 10 amps.

Certainly not gonna win a beauty prize for aesthetics, but it will gitterdone when its cold and going sideways....

LOL,actually your testing and experiments are awsome. There has been people wanting more info, about your old stove controller,on the "other" site,I do not comment.Actually, the "other" site, has had a huge influx of ignorant people, this year, they buy a 900 dollar stove, expect it to heat their huge house, and complaine when they have problems.Maybe I am just too old,but what happened to "RTFM"?lol. They way you have made your stoves work so well,on shells, people should be thanking you for years.

OK,over 5 hours in backhoe, opening up rich part time neighbors road,95% done, broke a chain, easier to drive it home at very slow speed, instead of trying to drop it,and throw 200lbs in the bucket.Have to call the out of state neighbor to pay this bill,as,their neighbor refuses to pay,it is their road, tomorrow should be interesting.Left leg hurts from running the brakes, wind blowing 45mph,a crappy afternoon.I am home, fed cat,got a brew, life is still good.

On Saturday I switched from Crabbe to 802's and had the same experience. At this time of year I am always in stove temp mode but with the 802 pellets I was not getting much of a big flame and even the flame i had went way down rather quickly.

Crabbe are good for the price but there are definitely better pellets there in terms of ash color and volume. Heat is good enough for heating the home but the top shelf pellets that are 25+ more per ton have their advantages in all areas.

-29*F or even lower as the Acurite weather station seems to be frozen and not giving accurate weather report. Good thing I've check the princess's plug-in timer 'cause it was tripped
I reset'ed and still no power, WTF! Further inspection, this is what I found :faint:
edit; princess told me it's -38*F just up the road:shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver:
