Paul Booth - Cutting large rounds vertically or otherwise to make them manageable to haul, lift or fit the splitter-Love the kitty
Noodling is when you cut down through a big round from the top or the end like where the splitter would hit. You might do that to be able to get the size more manageable.
CAT is also used as a short way of saying catalytic converter, which are used in some high efficiency EPA stoves.
Greetings Paul Booth and welcome to the forum. I apologize for checking in late but I was out of town. It sounds like you will fit in here very nicely. If you have some time, here is some good reading material that might help you: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage
Well I have something to read tonight thank you Backwoods Savage! Thanks guys for the help on the nomenclature I'll have it down soon. Here's a couple shots of the splitter. It's an oldie but it's a goodie. This summer I am going to do a little bit of work to it. I'm going to repower it with a 13hp and replace all the hyd lines.
It's not exactly OSHA compliant but I'm not complaining it works well. I may even give her a coat of paint...
Wow! Paul Booth thats postcard material, (or its modern day equivalent?) right there sir. It’s like you’ve been here all along. Racking up some major FHC cred here for sure! Hoard on my friend
Looks good Paul. The only exception is that it appears you need to reposition where the end of the boom is as it appears you have to pull or push the log back toward the splitter to set it down. Doesn't need much. Still looks great.
You are correct but if I boom up a little it lands nicely. By the way that was a great read thank you for that.
