I used one of their Inverters years back. Was a good machine but you needed a strong power source to it! It would fluctuate if it wasn't on 3 phase.
If your financing here is the Lincoln Generator multiprocess welder as well. Nothing wrong with a Lincoln!!! My "only" beef with them is they always seemed a little more in $$$ than most other machines, "Exellent quality" though...

We have a place that sells hobart called Murdochs. I called and they wanted me to call back Monday. The salesperson doesn't work Sunday. I think Pete is right on having two welders. That champion elite is looking pretty good. I want to se if they have a better price other than the MSRP listed on hobarts website.
That is precisely what I don't need Dave. My first bandsaw was a cheap import. Motor burned up in two days of moderate cutting.
That is a good option too. Nortern also has a comparable hobart model for 600 less. Would you say the Lincoln is still the way to go? I see the hobart doesn't have leads with that price.

For a couple hundred bucks less I can get the hobart with 5 foot leads. What say you guys? I will leave it lay after this. Thanks for taking the time, and not letting me get too cheap.
5 foot is too short, you be forever fighting with the unit getting in the way. or never quite enough to reach some odd place/posistion. Like a power cord it's always just a bit short. Current welders in shop Miller Dial arc 250 HF, Old Lincoln Torpedo ( the old geter done no matter what unit) and a 90amp lunch box mig unit that Lincoln owns- forget name similer to hobart /miller deal. The big miller and that torpedo are real mean on the electric meter, so starting to shop around for a all in one unit including ac tig . Also have a Ready Welder spool gun. Kinda touchy on the feed control easy to bump out of setting.
I would say, go with your gut! Leads are "NOT" cheap to buy, just remember that. The Lincoln Pete showed had 20ft of leads come with it. If you get a Hobart "with" leads, thats the way to go, "my opinion"... 5 year Warranty also.
Yes it is!!! That almost doesn't sound right. 15' maybe... ? I have 2 sets of 25ft and even they seem short at times. I normally use my 50ft'rs
Yes sir. The hobart price was with 50 foot leads. Still cheaper than the Lincoln. I'm going to trade 8 hours of labour for a map 211 I believe it is. That will be in the spring sometime. The hobart is realky looking sex right now.

The motor generators, are super smooth. I cut my teeth on a 20hp Hobart. I have a heavy as @&#t one made by P&H Harnischfeger. At my first job I was pulling the Hobart through the plant and turned to fast and it fell over. Took 2 forklifts to get it up. Thankfully it fell on the back, if it would have fallen on the dial side...... the guys plastered it with "this side up stickers" I never lived it down.
Man I jinxed myself. Yesterday I say my only repairs been brushes and today the pump on the Miller cooler starts leaking.....
