Just a note to anyone else who might be looking at a new weather station that you can access with a phone. This one has the doo-hickey that you just plug right into your router so you can check on it with your phone through the internet. Some of the Acurite stuff that you access with your phone from anywhere needs to be hooked to a computer in order to get info out onto the internet. Make sure of which one you're getting before ordering. The one that needs a computer hookup sounds like a bit of a pain.

... and if I remember correctly, that computer has to be on all the time and maybe even not asleep. It's been a while since I was looking.

I have several with outdoor monitors and I can put all the outdoor monitors in the same place and there can be quite a variance in temps. None of these sub-$500 instruments seem to be terribly accurate.

That's why it is important to be able to calibrate , Do that with an Accurate glass tube Liquid filled Type thermometer

Yes...on 24/7 365. I was looking at a Davis Instuments one that was around 500 cdn, but it seems they've got a lot of issues with theirs too. I dont really expect to get more than 2 or 3 years out of the Acurite one I ordered. As far as accuracy goes, I'm not expecting miracles there either. If it's with 3 degrees C and 10km/h on the wind speed, I'll be happy. All I really want to know is approximately what it's doing outside so I know how good to feel about being in the basement with the woodstove. :)

You know it actually gets below freezing in parts of California. I'm not talking just about dropping to 65° f either. ;)

    FANTASTIC!!

I did not read the time of your post and checked for coupons for you today, none except for accessories, glad you got one. raybonz inspired me and helped me with coupon codes. I'm impressed the winds have not wrecked it yet. Mine is not accurate for for snow, the winds just blow the snow all around and it keeps adding to the till so it can read 8" over night though it was only 2" of snow the day before, recycled many many times, but I'm super impressed with with the indoor outdoor temp, RH, wind speed/direction and barometer. I can look and see just fine how much snow we really got.
