If it makes you feel better... I was off the roof at 6:57...wife pizzed at me. But chimney stove and cap all cleaned. Xmas lights hung, and I even repaired a split Ridge shingle before calling it a night.

Cap won't be removed here until it has to be replaced.

I clean mine at the end of the season usually just a scrub down with a wire brush. Never tried oven cleaner though

We used to say that about going to whitewater for college ... where the men are men(and half the women) and the sheep are scarred.

Sorry for the noob question as I never cleaned my liner just yet but just recently picked up soot eater! Out of curiosity can you clean the liner from the inside/stove side if you remove the baffle and secondary air tubes? Vice versa if you clean from top down, soot being removed I assume has to fall down into the stove or on top of the baffle which would need to be removed anyways correct? I was up on the roof doing lights last week took a peek down the liner and at the chimney cap not much doing but I haven't burned a lot neither.

No, we don't hear much about acid rain is right. I think the problem ended right after the total depletion of the rain forests back in the 90's!

If like mine...ull find a piece of insulation on top of ur baffle board....its held there with a round piece of roughly 1/4" thick metal. Those stainless steel cotter pins can be a bear gettin back in for the tubes...i just got new ones. Make sure when u put the baffle board back in...u slide it the whole way to the rear. Theres an angle piece that holds the board up in the front....just push up n turn it to get it out..pay attention to what position it is in when u pull it out....easy peasy..

Thanks bear 1998 will do!! I'd like to try and give it a cleaning maybe a few weeks or Xmas week while am off just to see what I get. Most of what I burned is properly seasoned but a little of it hasn't.
