Great if you can find non-alcohol fuel of any type. Unfortunately don't have any around here unless I buy it by the 32 oz can (or smaller) :(

True, I'll get over it when daylight is here until at least 7:30 PM. In the mean time, I'm like the water spinning around and around lower and lower in your toilet.

I still have some cfls from a batch i bought in 2005. Will replace as they burn out with leds.

They have some leds now that look exactly like older style fancy incandescents.

Anyone ever have to do the trick of keeping an incandescent on during the winter in a crawl space or somewhere with vulnerable pipes?

Replaced the gasket on the EP. Ran the genny for a couple hours to get it some exercise. Then did an oil change.

Still need to do the oil in the ChitBlower and do leaf cleanup. That will happen if it ever dries out.

    Ahhhhh
    That could be an issue.

We have a card lock (Been with them since 1991 when I started trucking) and their premium is the Alky free stuff.

I use it in all the small engines.

Buying it by the small can is not cost effective for sure.

If all you have is Alky laced fuel there is a way to fix that....

Use a clear 1 gallon jug, add the gasoline, add a quart of water, slosh well to mix the fuel with the water...LET SIT UNTIL SEPARATED FULLY (The alcohol binds with the water and settles to the bottom)

Drain off the water/alky mixture and whats left is alcohol free fuel.

A bit of an extra task, but it is far less expensive than the the repairs to small engine parts that are ruined by the alcohol laced fuel.

Just need to be careful to get the water/alky mixture out of your jug before using the fuel.

Earl764 , are they water or heat pipes, or both? I did have an issue with a frozen attic heat pipe for a short while at my last house on an exposed heat pipe....tried light bulb (that didn't work very well in that situation), and then heat tape. Got smart after that and installed a ThermGuard on that zone......no more worries.

At my present shack, the incoming water line is outside (above ground, if you can believe that :loco: ), and has to be insulated and has to have a heat tape installed....this is the one I use:

LED... only way to go... brighter, and instant on compared to CFL. Once I got a couple,
I bit the bullet and replaced all the CFL's... gave them away...
My cousin rents out a couple of mobile homes... he has them in an enclosure around the water pipes...
They work ok.. until it gets REAL cold... or if the bulb burns out!!

Multiple times Earl, during the Ice storms of '98 and '08. In the crawlspace, and on a drop light, lowered inside the well cap. And once back when we first moved here back in ('93) after finding out the well water pipe was only buried 2' underground, in spots. :headbang: Got that fixed PDQ the following spring, a new line buried 4' with blue board insulation boxed all around / on top of the run. ... I got good at trench Digging that spring. :D

Don't really use the Incandescent bulbs anymore.. we just leave the bathroom faucet cold water line on 'trickle', to let the well pump cycle every 20 mins. or so, during extended (-) cold weather.

Tried heat tape on the pipes once waay back, lasted a few years, before failing. Not a fan of Heat Tape - house further up in the Development caught fire, because of one that shorted - according to the Fire Dept. Haven't used it since, after hearing that.

I’ve seen it for both. That is nuts about your water service. I’ve see that in San Francisco and it made sense there, but not up here.

The one I listed was the same one I replaced.....the old one had 5-6 years on it, and worked perfectly (no problem last winter during the 2 week Arctic blast we got), but I didn't want to chance it.....the park Mgr. agreed it was time to replace.

Well, it was a gorgeous day out, not too cold (wind wasn't too bad), so I decided it was time to wrap things up for winter:

    • cleaned all the leaves from around house/bushes/lawn, all blown into the woods ✓
    • hose drained, put away, insulation cap over hosebib ✓
    • plugged in water line heat tape ✓
    • brought sn*wblower to front of little shed, checked gas ✓

I'm done. Time for some racing on TV, and some :coldone:, and :stirpot:

Oh, and propane tanks got filled yesterday. This year's price is up about $.30/gal........$2.29 :emptywallet: Hoping for a warm-ish winter.

I generally do three leaf cleanups each year but this year the wet weather kept getting in the way. so this week was crunch time. I needed to get the I6 Trojan to the farm, pick up a vintage cider press donation, and get the leaf pickup done. The zero turn has an issue we have not figured out, but it ran enough for a 5+ hour marathon today to get the leaves done. had to do a few "honey do" things as well.

I need everything organized as i'm going to have hand surgery for carpal tunnel tomorrow morning on the right wrist. doc asked how long I've had it.....I said 40 years... started with problems riding a motorcycle and snowmobile and got worse with age.
so I've lined up the pellet bags so I can just open them and load the stove, finished the leaves, and done everything I can think of to smooth the way....

    now it's time for a :beerbbq:or two:beerbbq::beerbbq:

Argh! The P43 waited until a couple of minutes ago for the distribution motor to have issues; making funny whirring sounds and smelling like burnt stuff. Couldn't have done that last week when it was semi warm compared to what it is supposed to be this coming week. Now I'll have to go down and clean the boiler and get the pilot light lit - which means shutting down the P61a for a while (just in case of a gas leak).
