Absolute steel run question

    I never use the ash pan and unless I'm giving it a deep clean I leave the opening covered in ashes. It may not be sucking air,but I feel it is. I have thought about sealing it with door gasket cement since I never use it.

    When I'm burning I never dig the ashes out of this pocket unless I'm giving it a good cleaning. Just curious if anyone else has a set up like this?

    I never use it. It's easier to use a shovel and a bucket. It's not a tight fit so not sure if it's sucking air.

    I had just engaged the cat and turned to grab the fone. it was 250 and 500 but the surface temp started dropping faster than the probe. It was exactly half.
