If you insulate the floor will you deprive the crawlspace of any heat which may be keeping things from freezing now ??
Most of the joists are replaced however the last 4 couldn’t be removed and are solid so they got sistered. No the furnace is downstairs and had a vent for the basement. Even with the woodstove only it’s warm enough. I actually think the insulation will help the basement not hinder. We had frozen pipes a few times in the past but that was due to a poorly designed access door and somebody attaching the old plumbing directly to the door. Once I figured that out and sealed it then moved the water lines we didn’t have any more issues.
Thanks! That’s awesome of you sir! I had help show up yesterday right as it got hot out. Didn’t get as far as I wanted but we definatly got farther than we thought possible. The floor got heavily modified, jacked up and anchored. If it ever comes apart again the house will be on the ground! Your welcome to come over and drink my beer no work required Redneck! I was hoping to get up to visit Dennis this week too but that hasn’t happened. I have a beer that’s right up his ally!
Indeed it is! Best purchase I’ve made in years... That thing has saved me so much grief over the last year....
Hmm, I need to convince myself that I NEED that . I have the Ryobi stuff, so wouldn't need any more batteries. I'm always caulking or glueing something. I just have a really hard time justifying it to myself since sometimes that is basically the only exercise I get all day .
Thats a very good possibility the insane amount of flooring layers didnt do anything except cover up mold each time. I am in the nuke-it process mold be gone poo be contained and all that jazz.
No offense, but as a guy, it really doesn't take much to get me to purchase a tool that I will use. Unless it's obscenely expensive. Well, not to mess up your exercise routine, but it seems like a tool that could benefit you. I didn't even know that they had cordless caulking guns. I may have to get one, I might use it someday.
I have an old Lincoln 14.4V grease gun in my service van and I wouldn’t be without it. Love that little blue cranky turd. Might not work good but it works better than hand grease guns!
Soo what’s the delivery date? I also have a $13 air powered grease gun that gets used heavily at home. Found it at TSC and it’s lasted 4 years now single shot but way better than pumping...
Did not see on Rigid tools.. Boss gets great discount on Milwaukee.. Checking.. Yup got bunches of stuff to grease.
Didn't even know they made them......well there is my next tool . I've got to do the same exact thing to the main bathroom upstairs. Dragging my feet on it big time. Redid our master bedroom bath last year.
Man that was a canon ball run! I’ll get pics later. Took the window out of the wall on the bathroom to find that it never had any nails holding it in it had plastic j channel that wrapped around the frame and was glued into the frame. Strangest design I’ve seen and one major pita to get out of the wall. I ended up sawzall happy.... It started to rain about half way into the project and I was racing to beat the rain which I didn’t. It let loose as I was finishing closing the opening in the wall. By rain I mean absolute downpour huge drops straight down no wind. It lasted about 15 minutes and I got soaked clean through. I was trying to get it sealed up so fast that I forgot to finish nailing the last nail in in an effort to caulk the window and keep the water out. The sun was out and not a cloud in sight when I started and as soon as it rained it cleared up again... In that 15 minutes we had a good inch standing water running into the drains! And over the roads.
We've had a few of those short but violent downpours here as well this summer. Seems the extremes have taken hold of more than just politics lately.
Window is gone!! Getting there on the shower. I had to replace 4 studs that where falling out and re support a bunch of the others. But it’s coming together nicely! I’m not done with the back stud wall yet that will be finished tomorrow night. It was much easier to go that route than try to even the studs out. They where insanly far off. The wall isn’t even close to square with the wall on the right so easiest fix was a stud wall. The big shock was the cost of insulation that’s gonna rob the bank! We bought R30 rafter bats and will be blowing in on top of that to try to get to R40 in the ceiling but there may not be enough room. We will cross that bridge when we get there. Anything is better than the R13 wall bats they had as ceiling insulation when we did tear out.
