Actually you can go into the computer and pull the run hours from it.... Assuming that the ECU is the same from the engine. Then there's the whole dealio about someone putting that kind of work into a project, and not either putting a fresh new crate engine in it, or at least rebuilding the engine.
It's all about documentation at that point. Receipts, pics of the build, etc.

Waiting for the wife to wake up so we can head out to the lake again today. It's going to be a fairly hot one today. High dew point, mid 80's and very little wind.

I’ve got a 4.8 that I beat the snot out of and it’s increadably reliable.

I’m about to have the truck repainted. It’s at 183,000 miles and is the most problem free vehicle I’ve owned hands down.

I thought I’d hate it but it has proven me wrong every time. Might not have the power of the 5.3 but it has enough to get it done and holds up well.

Yeah, you've got one, so does Eric. Iirc. They are ok. But underpowered and offer nothing over the 5.3. same weight, less power, because it's just a debored and probably destroked 5.3.

Ford did that with the old 5.0 block and made a 4.2 V8 by having a smaller bore. It didn't work out that well. Reliable yes, but less power and no real gains in measurable mpg.

It's kind of like don't feeds the bears. There federally or state protected there and they dont want them to become dependent on handouts.

Yea you can go in computer but I was thinking along what you said, you possible have 3 trucks there, maybe jut 2? You don't know, and I agree, I'd get a GM crate motor if I was doing all that.

    Power
    4.8 270-290hp 285-305 ft lb torque

    5.3 270-305hp 315-335ft lb torque

The big difference is the stroke it’s still got all the goodies that make LS engines great. The stroke is 3.267 on the 4.8 and the 5.3 is 3.622.

Now that I’ve owned one I have thoroughly changed my mind about the 4.8 it is a gooder engine. Not really any different than the way gm has done things like 305 and 350 it’s nothing new except they finally did a good job. I hated the 305.

Absolutely no gain, probably worse really, mpg.
Could be the way mine is geared since it’s a W/T model.... don’t have much of a reference on comparing power, but 4 Low in my truck would climb a house.

Ex fiance had a new 1500 Chevy with the 4.8. she got a smoking deal on it. She hated it, I drove it and didn't like it either. She ended up getting a 4.6 liter Ford and was much happier.

It's not a bad engine, by no means, but it was a downsized, from an already downsized engine ( 5.7). I don't buy GM power ratings. They are typically way over zealous on ratings compared to other brands.

A 4.8 gm is still loads better than the older this 350' and 305's. Those were dogs.

I don’t buy anybody’s power ratings

I drive an e250 for work with a 4.6 talk about gutless after the parts and tools. :picard:I’ll give it one thing though it’s also a very reliable engine.

The real shocker to me is the 2019 Silverado with a four-cylinder I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that!

Morning all. Beautiful day here as we are in a good weather stretch. Daughter and SIL are here to mow lawns, put wood down and make kindling. They spent the day yesterday at Granny's mowing lawns and doing yard work for her. campinspecter was able to walk around the block yesterday so recovery is going well. Staples in the leg are suppose to come out tomorrow. It will be easier for walking then.
