No just the res and pump. The splitter will stand alone.

That's a good idea. Have any other hydraulics you can power with it?

A hyd. Drill and tamp. Mostly want to be able to keep the motor in the shed. I got a deal on the splitter I could not have bought the parts as cheap as I got the assembled mech. I did not like the way the wheel horse mowed so I figured might as well do something with it

Finaly have all the main parts either in my possession or ordered. only things I need is a little scrap steel to mount everything and make the lines. coming together slowly but surely.

Does your Wheelhorse have a rear PTO? I have a GT14 which has a rear PTO (power take off, basically an open belt pulley for whatever you wish). You could use that to run the hydro pump for a 3 pt.

I had also thought about getting a 3 pt splitter last year when I was researching splitters, but decided against it because of the weight ratio problems. I think the splitter hanging off the back of the tractor may lift the front wheels off the ground. Now add a 200# 25" Red Oak round and your in big trouble. Then there is the point that you can't use it vertically.

So I instead ended up installing a 2" hitch mount on the tractor, and getting a regular H/V splitter. Now I can simply hook up the splitter to the tractor, drag it into woods and split away.... Been very happy with the setup. LOVE the Wheelhorse, she is a tank!

I now have the flexibility to drag the splitter in, disconnect and split away Horiz and Vert, put the splits in the wagon/trailer, and when full drag it out to offload back in my yard, rinse and repeat.... OR, just use the splitter in the yard without the tractor.... OR, use the tractor without having the splitter attached (I have a snow blower attachment....).

that is a nice set up. mine is an 88 312-8 model no rear pto. i had the 3 point log splitter already and am just modifying it to use the motor to power the hydraulic pump and hold the reservoir. use it as a little mobile hydraulic setup to run a drill or tamper. they are tanks but i hated the way mine mowed.

    Mow? What is that? ;-)

Mines a 1971. 43 years old and runs perfect, ALL original. Amazing, with they would make something today that lasted that long!

all the new big box store stuff might as well be considered throw aways. lucky to get five years out of it and then it cost as much to fix as a new one does practically.

Thanks, but I can't take all the credit. I bought it in pretty good shape. I was a bit rough, I just cleaned it up, fixed lots of little things (lights, cracked light lenses, new custom seat cushion...).

Yep, nothing but Chinese CRAP today, and it's ALL throwaway sadly.

Yes I saw that video. Only difference is mine will have quick connects so I can keep the tractor in the shed and also use it for other things as needed.

Quick question: Does your pump have a built in relief valve?
