Been hard to on this second Monday of the week.... But thanks! And I hope you’ve had a great one up there in Northland
I've also read that British Generals house keeper, or wife...I don't remember which) tipped off the group about the march to Lexington and then Concord. By Henshaw, the minutemen, were ready! But when the Brits weren't in Lexington by 1 a.m., the minutemen got board and retired to the wet grocer for some cider. When the Brits finally showed up at 4:30 a.m., the minutemen weren't in prime fighting condition and the 19 of them were dropped like a bad habit. The Brits thought the next encounter in Concord to grab powder out from the Church would be as easy. I guess the Concord guys were more about the tea.
Ninja and I got a little more time on the bridge today. Finished lashing timbers together, put the white oak on and off ramps down and took a shake down Cruze. I ordered decking from the fella around the corner with a mill yesterday. Not sure when he'll have it as he has a job in front of me and want to hay while it's dry. Still some work to go!
Progress. Timbers now milled. Ninja hauled them into the cellar and stickered them. We'll let me set for a while and I'll keep an eye out for some out door stain on CL. If nothing pops up, we'll bite the bullet and get something at the depot.
The last picture looks like a raft floating a quad in the jungle. Wicked pizza bridge M2theB ! Take some pics of it with snow on it when the time comes.
Ninja and I slapped some stain on the decking today. With any luck we'll out back later this week to start putting it down.
You'll be dragging back wood from the other side of that brook anytime now. Just in time for this crappy air to move out.
When all those green ferns die back in the fall, soon enough. That bridge will really stand out, looking forward to fall and snow pics.
Loaded up to head out back shaved the high edge off the west log and relashed it with the stainless wire set a center plank and worked outward from there Ninja doing his finest with a right handed hammer last board off the day. Rough decked and getting out of Dodge before the squitoes drink more than the sweat in our soaked clothes. Everything is two-nailed at the high spots. Still need to go back and shim the lows and throw a couple more nails in. Trim the sides, dress the ramps and lay the wheel strips and we're there.
Awesome bridge indeed. Thanks for the update! Soon enough you can get some foliage shots with the bridge.
Got a couple hour this afternoon to start putting the cherry on top of the cake. It was a little cooler, breezier, and nicer working conditions. Down to the approach and ramp details. We did bring our first load of wood back across from that side of the brook. White oak from the trees that made the bridge.
