Front tray build, this is so much fun!!!!! My ultimate wood machine lol. I had to put that cut in the top of the bar holder cuz i couldnt get the saw in (oops) turns out it will be a nice little holder when the bar rests on top and sits in that groove for sharpening.
Front tray is on, I sprayed both trays with rubber under coating after i painted them, i really like the setup. Took a ride with my little guy to my sisters down the road to show my Dad the new front tray. He’s retired and has a 2000 polaris 6 wheeler, he says well when are we gettin some wood. Him and my mom built an apartment in her basement and huge garage at my sisters for all Dads toys, they live less than a quarter mile away and have 30 acres. Good times ahead with the new wheels!!!!
I got 4 front skis from snogoes last summer to make a sleigh. 2 SWIVEL bunks for poles Or cordwood. My idea for a good woods trailer on skis is to set my trailer up for tandem wheels via a walking beam. Then make a set of wide ski frames about 4 feet long . With holes where the tires sit, about 10" long each. Set up so I can bolt them on when I'm working in snow conditions. The tires will protrude thru the holes in the runners by about 2 ". That way, if I need to go where there is no snow. The tires will roll along the ground. And in deeper snow, the skis will carry the trailer. Kinda like Wheel Skis on an airplane. I will skin them with 1/2" PTEX . Tipped on both ends so I can back the trailer up where and when I want to. Skis will look kinda like a snow board with 2 holes cut in the middle for atv trailer tires.
That Is a GREAT setup !!!! You will really enjoy having your saw mounted up front like that ! That is where I pack mine most of the time.
Workin in Dads garage, added rear led lights and a quick reference ruler for firewood sizing. I cant stop!!!!
Yup https://goo.gl/photos/ch8FZs1tqggwqB9q7 That little trailer is light and works fine behind an atv .
I know right its brand new, when he told me to drive over and do the lights there while he was waxing the boat i said i feel like i dont want to make s mess there. I like the lights, will also come in handy guttin a deer at night
Shawn; would you have a pic or any info on the Debarker you mentioned ? I've long figured that debarking is one of the most important things for milling . Nothing worse than being almost through a long cut with my Alaska mill and hit a little rock hid in the bark. It's amazing how such small rocks can ruin having a fun time cutting. Not being able to easily debark logs is the biggest reason I never got a band mill.
Dancan; you have a Great setup there. What brand is your tractor tho ?????? WW; really like the lights setup ! I think you will too !
I guess this is the best pic I have of it. It’s the motor ahead of the blade with the yellow/black caution stripes. The motor turns about a 6-8” carbide tipped saw blade that cuts a shallow kerf right ahead of the band saw blade. The whole assembly is spring loaded to follow the contour of the log and I think there’s a separate servo motor that retracts it for once you’re down to a square cant. Paul said he gets 50-100% longer blade life compared to his old mill. Woodwhore - I really like the boxes - especially that rear one. It’s like a little pickup bed. You’re giving me some ideas for my quad. I think I’m going to go with something similar for my rear box.
The tractor is a MF1020 , it's a Toyosha made for MF . I know that the same tractor comes in the Deutz colors and polly another couple of brands as well . The nice thing about the little tractors are that they'll go where Woodhore will take that nice CanAm . But , he'll get there a lot smoother and way faster than me lol I've had my trailer on the back of an old 300 King Quad , it'll work fine , plenty of store boughts out there to be had as well , woodland mills has a unit that looks pretty good .
Anyone seen Lodged Tree around lately. I'm pretty sure his selfloader trailer is tandem axled on a walkin beam. Dan, with your tractor and trailer. If you had a little self loader on the trailer you would be in fat city !!
I am the self loader ,,, for now lol A tandem trailer is also nicer for keeping the load on the trailer tires and for keeping some weight off of the trailer ball which is important on an ATV .
