Well ( knock on wood I don’t get called In tonight ) I will have the shocks finished. Little crooked but o well no biggie. I wish I could have mounted them straight up and down but that’s not happening so the next idea was this. It appears to work still.
looks good, I do not think I have ever seen a shock mounted straight on a car rear axle, usually one front and one rear of axle too..
Hey Pete, This thread has been a lot of fun to read through. Thanks for the play by play. The trailer is looking awesome. Can’t wait to see the finished product; but then what will I have to read? Keep up the excellent work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you! There’s usually some random project going on here... wait for the bathroom you guys will love that disaster!
Thanks guys for the 3/8 nap roller idea that works great on the expanded metal!!! It takes work but much safer and less waste than spray bombing the metal!
Ha! I like it!!!!! This trailer is fricken wearing me out! It better be a good name like that to make the effort worth it!
I havnt yet. Most likely Ill just buy screw down anchors for now and rather than screws bolt them down. They are cheap and worked good on our other trailer that I built. ( now my parents trailer ) They still work good so...
I like stake pockets. Weld them in to the channel web on the frame, then run a 2" x 3/8 or 1/2 flat bar between them (horizontally). Go about a 30" spacing between pockets and you're not limited to where you have to tie off. Terminate your flat bar to angle back to the frame and you're good to go. It's a solid set-up, and pretty cheap to do.
Hmmm I’ll think on it more. You gave me an idea... It will be later if I do something like that not right now I’m at the point of painting colors Saturday everything is primed and setup for color now.
Looking forward to the finished product Pete! BTW my HF welding table showed up yesterday at 5PM and i assembled this this AM.. Very good quality for the money spent! Thought the instructions were easy to follow and I only tightened by hand until fully assembled.. It is definitely the best bang for the buck! BTW the to edge guides checked out perfectly square with a 2' square! That's a big assembly plus!
I think that table is also sold under a few other names. My friend has an Eastwood branded version that’s identicle aside from paint. It’s a well made table... I’ve used mine heavily and it holds up well! Every now and then I use PB blaster to clean it up and that helps a lot. Enjoy it Ray!
I found a un-opened can of Rustoleum professional grey in my garage. It’s still good so I think I’m painting the frame green and the Fenders, ramps and light cages grey. It should look pretty foods that way! I’m also picking up self etch primer for the inside of the fenders and coating them with rubberized undercoating. That’s easy to patch if need be.
I just modified 2 bird feeders into a double hook feeder.. Welds came out like $hit but it's strong! Used the angle grinder with 60 grit flap disc to prep for welding and also to clean it up for painting.. Man I am loving this stuff! New welding table was a great deal IMHO! Ordered a 3M face shield because I am concerned that a cutoff disc exploding could cause major damage and I am ugly enough already lol..
