Well I’ve got enough steel and expanded left so I am going to make a side ramp up front about 2’ wide and 5’ long for unloading rounds easier.
This is good ting eh? Good to be strong like bull. Pete, side note.. the elect outlet went in fine today, and I can manage to get the dishwasher plugged in at the moment. We'll see how things work with the new countertop on. None of my plumbing leaked at all. Tried running the dishwasher, no go because of low water pressure. Come to find out, blew out a hot water connection in the bathroom So, shutoff hot water, in bathroom cleaning up, hear a hell of a ruckus on the wall, come running out to kitchen, cold water line blew out right at the shutoff connection. So, shutoff whole house, reglue connections, bathroom still leaks. Make another trip to Home Depot, they're closed for the night. Reglued things again, and giving it lots of time to set up, hoping I can take a shower before work in the AM. Are we having fun yet??
Oh crud! Not gooder! Yeah most people don't realize that PVC glue needs a couple hours to set up good if you want to be sure it holds when the pressure comes at it
I think it depends somewhat on the specific glue...but yeah, could be more than a couple hours. We hired a new guy at work to help with maintenance...kind of an apprentice type of position. He was pretty green. One day when I was off, they had a problem with a 1" PVC water line...so he cuts it apart to replace a plugged fitting...glues it back together and turns the water on......POP! Water everywhere! They said he was in a complete and udder panic...didn't know which way to turn first (it wasn't really that big of a deal) He apparently thought I said "blah blah blah" when I previously told him about waiting for the glue to dry before turning the pressure back to a newly glued joint...never a dull moment
Ugh that stinks... Pvc glues are not all equal be sure you use cleaner and primer... We do a lot of pvc / cpvc / copper / pex / black pipe you name it work on farms and that is the ticket... make sure you let it set at least 30 minutes before you put water through it and you’ll be good. Without the cleaner your going to have problems weather it’s today or a year from now as for primer I don’t care if they say you don’t need it use it anyways primer makes a big difference and does add strength over time. We fix a LOT of pvc lines that blow and never had primer but when we use it we never go back again... Something I do is keep a couple shark bite fittings for emergency use around they are good quick fix when you need it. Personally I don’t trust them very far but again farm service here I replace a lot of sharbite fittings weekly that fail at the oring... They are however excellent for a quick fix to get you by for a while.
Looking good. Have you got the expanded on the frame yet? A cautionary note- You now have penetrations in the tube steel from the latch pins. Consider a few weep holes to prevent water from collecting. A few freeze/thaw cycles can wreak havoc if enough water has collected.
Very good idea! I was considering lining the inside of the holes with tubing and welding it in but haven’t got anything to use. I might just do weep holes and call it good.
That was my thought I was going to use black pipe but I can’t find the pipe I thought I had then thought about tubing and can’t fimd that either. Might do weep holes anyways just because it’s going to build moisture inside even sealed.
I’m thinking seriously about sandblasting and epoxy painting the trailer now. After all this work I don’t want it to rust again....
