BTW my company supplied me with 11 pair of FR jeans plus 11 FR shirts.. Most of the jeans are Carhartt and a couple pairs of Wrangler FR jeans..
Because I am exposed to possible arc flash hazards I am required to wear FR clothing.. The fab guys get them as well..
Was just eyeballing it looks pretty cool indeed! I am blown away buy all the china boxes available now That welder looks like it will do you well. Something I learned on the old cheapo jobsmart was the ground clamp SUCKED. When I put a better on on it the welder was like a new machine.. That might be part of your problem if you haven’t already changed it.
The ground clamp seems OK.. I attach it to a vicegrip type work clamp but if I have to replace it HF has a good looking clamp for short money.. 400 Amp Welding Ground Clamp
Yup that would work great! Something else you can do is weld a bolt or piece of scrap to your project to clamp to then when your done cut it off and grind the area flush. I do that on some projects. The trailer I welded a bolt to the frame so no matter where I am welding I have a really stable ground without the need to grind an area clean every time the welder needs to be moved.
Good idea Pete! I have been clamping my work down tight and attaching the ground to this clamp.. Keeps the clamp like new this way too.. Like the welding helmet so far.. Reacts really fast and has 4 sensors.. Not a bad price..
4 sensors all the way! My old HF helmet is identical to that one and has 4 sensors hmmm can’t go wrong with that!
I'm sure you have insulation in your garage already...I use rubber hose or fuel line...whatever I have around. I just take a piece of line, cut a short piece off, say a 1/2" or 3/4" long piece, thread the wire(s) through it, then work the rubber into the hole in the frame. I like the hole to be just a smidge smaller than the OD of the hose...stays in place real well that way. You can also slice the hose lengthwise to put it over an existing wire so you don't have to cut the wire, or unhook it...but I prefer to not slice the hose...stays in place better I think.
That’s what our welders have at work but I only weld in emergency situations on call. At home I probably should get a jacket but i am too cheap. Actually along those lines I had an idea of still using OSI but shoving 1/4” fuel line through the center to hold the wires. That wouldn’t go anywhere but would be easy to pull wires out if needed later. Completely redneck...
Rediculassly awesome hard core caulk and foam. Developed for a window company then went public because it’s so tuff. I’ll never use anything else again this stuff is just about bullet proof... Product Categories | OSI
