Started the install plans for the Allure. I figured since it's not that cold out I would take some extra time and completely redo the corner that the stove is going in. 2 yrs ago over the winter we redone the stove room but worked around the stove so that will get finished now. The Ravelli sits on a raised hearth on top of the carpet so that's getting changed. Picked up the vent for the Allure oak since that needs to be changed to 3". If it ever stops raining I will go pickup the sheet of paneling i'm gonna need for the back and side wall. I'm figuring 2 solid days of work until the stove will be ready to fire but it should look nicer then it currently does. Here is the vent I got for the oak with a 4" - 3" reducer Shop IMPERIAL 4-in Dia Galvanized Steel R2 Exhaust Dryer Vent Hood at Lowes.com I removed the damper and installed a piece of screen. The vent will pass through the wall and then flex pipe too the stove. My goal is to have everything on hand so that when I tear in I can get it done in the projected 2 days.

    Hey Rich
Are you using 3” flue Vent or going with the Stainless Steel lined Pro 4” Vent? What about the one hole Selkirk DT that is rated for 50-50 corn mix, with the easy vacuum cleanout, it works great with Harmans and you get 10% more efficiently? I also put a WiFi T-Stat on one leg of the room probe for remote access.

Harman makes a wifi stat for the Allure......no wiring required.....it works quite well

I've looked at the DT literature on the Selkirk site before, and don't remember seeing that claim. Care to refresh my memory with a link to their literature where they state that?

No they cannot make that claim because of all the different climates, altitudes and configurations of installations!
However in my experience, I installed a fresh air liner and insulated the fireplace to block heated room air from going up the chimney and my friend’s electric bill was 8.7 % less that season which was more mild than the previous season. So I believe it is saving some energy and the results can vary greatly. I would not say more than 10% because that is just not true. I would also say in dryer climates savings may be less. Also it is more of the concept of warm fresh air not just the venting itself. I really like the DT venting just because the ash is dryer and fluffier here in the damp North East so it is easier to keep the stove cleaner and a good chance of less rusting. :)

OK, again, how do you come up with the 10% claim??? I sure hope you're not using that when you try to sell the pipe to a customer....it's false & misleading.

I'M reusing my current 3" duravent I just have to move the pipe over 6". I think I could have just used an adjustable 90 and made it work but I don't want anymore elbows then absolutely necessary. So the exhaust will come off the stove straight out and up 5ft. Only about 6" of pipe will be inside. My existing oak is 2" so I have to change that. At some point I may invest in the Harman wireless sensor but for now I'm gonna try putting the wired sensor where I have the Ravelli sensor and see how accurate it is. The Ravelli is within 1 deg. Of my thermometer in the next room.

No, I never do and there are some many variables there is no guarantee. I just explain the configuration and they like how only 1 hole is needed for the flue and OAK. The people who do choose it, really like it after using it a while. :)
So far I have seen it installed on a Whitfield Quest, Englander 25-PDV , 25-PDVC , Hudson River West Point, Harman P61 and Advance Pellet Stoves all with very positive results. :)
