200 Amp service, older wiring (early romex), mostly 12-2 ungrounded
Should I pull a home run with new 12-2 w/ ground?

Missed that. :( .. See lots of folks are vested in getting you back up & running .. FHC rules. :dex:

As a "sanity check", I'd pull the clean-out plate (pg. 15) and observe the amount of ash in there: to make sure "over-draft" didn't pull ash from the firebox up there / plug it -> caused the trip switch on the high limit temp sensor to trip,

New stove (shipping from east Asia?), I'd also be checking all connections inside the stove - to make sure none are loose / or disconnected during shipment/handling, if here.

    Going back to sleep..

So- is this normal 5 minutes after powering down? Flames have a little bit of dancing motion, room fan is in high gear to purge heat...

Ima ask every question I can from now on!!!:hair:
    :D
But seriously- thanks y’all for helping me along. I’ll try to do better:handshake:

It looks like you may need to "dial in" the damper control / intake air from that pic of the flame, and check the burn pot to make sure -all- holes are free / clean there Eric. It's a small stove - gotta keep the burn pot super-clean.

FWIW, we clean the burn pot here every day, soaking it for about 10 mins. in a hot water / 1 teaspoon dish detergent mix, using a "green" or "black" heavy duty scouring pad, with a metal teaspoon used to gently "scrape" off any heavy carbon buildup (rare) makes cleanup easy.

You'll be a Pellet Roasting veteran, in no time at all.

re: electrical service - best advice I can give is treat the stove like any other 'major' electrical appliance - if you feel the appliance would benefit from a new (grounded) wire run from the box, then I'd do it.

Yup, that's normal. Stove's control panel is 'torching' the remaining material out of the burn pot, with the auger feed shut off.

Normal flame should be 'lively' and dancing / pellets should have a nice bright glow, not dull / overly orange or 'lazy'.

    Congrats!!!

Blower on my stove runs for atleast 5 minutes after shutdown, til it decides its cool enough, then turns off too.

Also, my stove is more like Kenis's, we scrape the pot maybe a couple times a week, hopefully you won't need to clean it like CleanFire 's everyday.

    I hope so too.

But that's done by choice here - with a deep (4") rectangular burn pot on the Francesca, and no "agitator" mechanism of any kind, running at 1.6 lb/hr (the stove's "sweet spot"), with combustion air tuned to keep more heat in the stove: the burn pot accumulates ash over time.

Pellets have a lot to do w/ it also WW: the "Satisfaction" (aka LG Granules) are known to have "heavier" ash, vs. other brands.

If we were burning LaCrete pellets, we could extend cleaning by 1.5 - 2x, e.g. shutdown every 2 days ..'ish.

If we were burning Olympus DF pellets, the stove could run for 4+ days, without us shutting down to clean.. Sigh. :(

So, 2 final questions......what did you do to get it to burn correctly, and do you have a good quality surge protector on it? The electronics on these things are prone to surges/spikes, and are $$$ to replace. A lot of members here use one of these:

PS, I took his well advised suggestion for my stove too :) Then ended up with the sine wave UPS that IHATEPROPANE posts when there are really good deals on them :)

So our IT guy walks by my desk and I ask him if he’s got any UPS’s laying around. Says “yeah if you don’t want the battery backup (cos the batteries are dead) but the surge protection is still there....
    He hands me this-

Eric this will raise its ugly head over and over again you have a 1 setting stove without damper diddling. Just be aware.
