Not a huge deal, as there's only one piece of siding over it. Easy fix. One of the guys is here to finish the west side of the house, so I let him know about it.
With any luck... you'll be able to heat the place with a couple well placed candles after they git done mistah man...
Wife grabbed a lockset for the rear door while she was out shopping yesterday. I'll be putting that in today. That should pull the door a bit tighter. So when I got up this morning, it was still 70 in here without the furnace kickin' on at all, and the OAT at 5F. I'll take it. Used to be anywhere from 63-maybe 66 in those conditions. Hangin' at 73 IAT with 2 Maple splits in the stove. I'm cautiously optimistic. Oh, and the Great Stuff is starting to wear off mah fingahs. A little............
Revision: Can't do that until I remove the gas line for the old DV heater. That won't happen until I can get my hands on a couple pipe wrenches, which are in brother's work van, which is downstate with him.
I'm sure I could buy a couple, but if you've priced 'em, you might not want to buy one.....or two. I'd never use 'em again, so they'd end up in his truck like the pipe thread cutter set I just bought.
So, they're getting much done, despite the cold. Doubt they'll be back after today until the warmer days we have coming next week. Just some of the back (south) wall to do, and a small section of a gable where the bedroom roof is shorter than the main house. West wall..........The Forsythia is blocking the view a bit .
looks great, So how did they do the gable before the wall, curious might be a better way? love ranches, no scaffolding,
The upper part of the gable is basically offset proud of the lower wall, so instead of filling the lower part with osb to make 'em flush, they're doing the upper, then using J between the two. I've seen a LOT of houses up here with T1-11 with that offset and I don't understand it. Maybe they put up the end/gable truss slightly proud of the wall to allow an overhang equal to the thickness of whatever T1-11 is being used to avoid a z flashing. I dunno.
Kind of looked like J channel, thats why I was wondering why? Sounds like an original framing oops, set truss and forgot about sheeting/OSB thickness?? or possibly a better idea to shed water??
