Here's the newer chain with tilt at 40 and angle at 30. Look like it matches to You?

Take the gullet out with a file and make it look like the new chain below the cutter. I mentioned a few pages back that with round semi chisel like you have there, you may have to go with more angle and get into the tooth a little bit with the side of the wheel in order to get some hook.

Check wheel edge profile with plastic gauge. Should be little U shaped slots on one side. Your wheel edge radius looks like it's not quite as round as it should be...

dall is your new grinder set up yet?

Not much experience on a grinder but does it matter which way the wheel is rotating on the cutter?

Each respective chain maker has specs that should be followed for grinding. That 40 degree tilt is not one of them. BTW, you are way to deep with the wheel and are sharpening the working corner which is the most important part with the side of the wheel.

I just remembered, my Silvey 510 has a tag on it wired to the adjustment nut on the tilt fixture. It says, "DO NOT ADJUST", factory pre set.

Here I don't know if you can see the tag on the left of the vise:

I replaced the Tecomec with the Neilsen

A project in the work is converting the Tecomec to the Silvey Pawl system. A new vise is constructed with .002" clearance for each gauge, shims for 58 & 63 gauge.

The geometry isn't quite right for doing rakers and cutters, but is pretty close to being operational.

The charcoal grey resinoid wheel. The 8" wheels are so much bigger they last a LONG time. When they are wore out an adapter can be used as they are then the size of conventional wheels.

This is it but is NLA:

Just looked, wow you guys can still get a used one, this came up on flea bay. I have the 80 gauge rails too. The 3/8ths - .404 vice and pawls set me back $180.:picard:
