Ground one at 55* instead of 60. It seemed to give me more "c" shape in the side of the cutter and to the touch felt sharper.

The 60* didn't impress me in the wood to be honest, but that may have been cuz I was all one foot on a split bent over cutting cookies on ice :(

Back outside to make some more chips with the 55*

I would set the joint ( take down the depth gushes to a specific depth like30 thou . Then play with your angles. . Go easy on the pressure. Don't burn the cutters.!!!!

Aren't Oregon angles all the same? I have a Chinese copy and my angles go the other way. 60 on one is 30 on the other and vice versa

even the files that is recomended seems too big the cutter looks to be straight up and no hook like it could use more angle maybe 50 degrees

When I hand filed it I would really hit the gullet to try and get some hook. My old silvey for rounds doesn’t really have angles. Just wing it.

It also looks like a semi chisel in the pic he posted. It's hard to make it look like semi has any hook

Yea....the Pico sux donkey balls. Need one of those magnifying glasses from page 1 of this thread.

I moved to 3/8 .050 and at 30 and 60 they are matching the stihl reference marks.

Be careful about going to Deep. I usually stop going deeper when the point of the cutter reaches the side of the wheel. I only sharpen with the round portion of the wheel

Again, to each his own. But to me, the bottom of the wheel should be shaped perfectly round. And I'd stop going down into the tooth at the point where the top of the cutter reaches the side straight part of the wheel. You're driving down a little bit deeper than that

All I know is that in the past few hours I fixed a whole lotta chains that were beyond a file. Rocks, metal, dirt, etc.

11 chains done so far. 5 to go. Tomorrow am with coffee is raker time.

    Pile of metal lol

I'll set the depth stop a little shallower. I figured that step half way down would drag thru the cut.

Yessir. They look like they'll cut fine.
Did you get a flat red gauge reader with your grinder? It has a wheel profiler on it.
