    lisinopril hctz: 10/12.5

My RN honey says dont be surprised if they up the dose to if it dont drop enough. Says that is pretty standard procedure. I have always been in the mid 140's over eighty something. Spiked a few times to 90-91 and since I am seeing the doc every 2-3 months for an injury they are getting waayyyyy too many readings from me to stay under the radar. 3 months ago it was really good, dont know what happened 2 days ago.

Honey says they want it under 80 which I generally am at 82 on a good day. Doesnt help that the standard for "normal" was lowered recently.

Yup. felt that way this morning about 2 hours after taking the med. A bit dizzy I guess.

Luckily the med is only 5 bucks for a month supply. And so it begins..........

That lisinopril starts acting 1 hour after you swallow it and hits its peak hours later and the other is a loop diuretic (water or whizzing pill). Yes they start low and increase it. Do not use lisinopril if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor right away.

That 10/12.5 is a low dose, the boss has been on 20/25 for two decades. I have no loop diuretic and am on 40 mg lisinopril. The lisinopril doesn't make me dizzy, the CCB lowers my diastolic reading and sometimes both readings to hypotension readings.

Dont know why he did the diuretic. I have definitely felt "off" today. Even off for me that is. Felt fine before I took it. Hopefully I will assimilate

Have an appointment in 3 weeks for a nurse visit and blood work. I just dis complete blood work in August-everything was good. I guess this is for potassium check?

Better eat some banana's. These meds effect the potassium levels so I'm told.

CCB = calcium channel blocker ( the 4th level of drugs sometimes needed for bp control). I refused to let them increase the metoprelol higher than 200 mg a day. Didn't want to involve a cardiologist in the mix.

Yes it is for a potassium check as well as liver. Likely kidneys as well.

Usually if you are just above the normal range they sometimes will try just the diuretic to control things but it also allows a lower dose of the other drug to be used sometimes.
