Nope, while it's not been used much, mostly because I couldn't keep it running, it's 3 years old and even the extended warranty is expired. So basicly my procrastination cost me $100 and change.

I had a similar problem with my 661. After it ran out of gas I'd fill it back up and could not get it started again. Although the next day it would fire up on one pull! Took it to the dealer and they replaced the fuel mixing solenoid. Seemed to do the trick. But when it's really hot out I do have some problems starting it the first time or restarting it after I've been running it :headbang::headbang::hair::mad:. Haven't had it back to the dealer yet, but it should probably make it way back there beforemy warranty runs out! Chit thats in 3 weeks!:bug:

Well took my 661 back to the dealer 2 weeks ago, just picked it up the other day they couldn't even get it started! They kept telling me it was probably dirty filter or dirt in the carb but my saw is clean! They hooked it up to the computer and it said that there was no issues!:hair: They ended up putting on a new fuel solenoid mixing valve that'swhat it was, that's the 2nd one that they put on in less than a year!:headbang: I think it's time for a WJ-69 adjustable carb.

I haven't followed these saws and all the mods in a few years. I know they have these hot start and no start issues. But can you add the wj69 carb? Will it work does the computer not go crazy? Have to leave a connectar connected or something?

It will run with the mtron coil as long as the carb solenoid is still connected to it. I have done it by just strapping them up in the airbox.

The mtron coils are limited but If you not racing it runs just fine.

A 661 will not start if it's cold or cool unless you switch to the choke position.
It has to push a switch on the carb.

Put a regular carb on it and you can pull till your arm falls off and it won't start until you push the switch that bolts to the side of the mtronic carb.

Use the choke position everytime you start it if you have to.
    It won't flood

So are you pushing this button Redfin when you pull the original carb off and put a wj69 on it?

Every time I've had a reg carb on one if it's cold or cool it won't fire unless you push the switch that the choke pushes when applied on the mtronic setup.

I always put the switch in the start position, per manual, for restart, except it seldom did. Pulled the plug several times and it was clean and bone dry every time, so it wasn't flooded.

Mine is the first year of production for the 661, I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem or not.

I haven't even tried to start it after it came back from the shop. Maybe in a week or two.

Replacing the solenoid seems like a Hail Mary pass, sometimes it works and some times it doesn't.

No. This is the carb solenoid and harness that must remain connected to the mtron coil for the saw to fire. IMG_2707.JPG

This is the same connected to the wj134a mtron carb. You can see how the stock arm contacts the switch when set to start. IMG_2708.JPG

Everytime I plug my saw into the puter it says use red amor oil and do a muff mod or send it out 4 a jack azz port job with a free sticker. But my homo-depo service guy says that puter stuff is all BS he can fix it with WD 40 and a stick welder in ten minutes.

So could it be possible that Raphlie's saw is not contacting the switch or he has a bad switch?

    Probably a wire harness problem.
I believe they would give trouble time to time.

Check connections and continuity or just replace the harness all together.

I have one if you want to try it.

We're doing good here. Miss a lot of the regulars that have drifted over to OPE. I use to drop in there every so often. Haven't been over there poking my head in the door in 6 months or so.

Maybe I will here soon. So tough to stay all these places and keep up
