One thing that hasn't been mentioned is you will be limited on the GPM by the size of well you have.
I have an older honda gx engine(11hp) with an AV pump(4gpm and 4000psi) that was new last year it does what I ask it to, but there are times I want it to do a little more. Usually when I need it to do more I bring whatever the item is to a friend's and have it sand blasted LOL.
If it ain't got the power of the ones at the pressure washers in town then I don't want it ;).
If you can find a smaller unit with a honda gx series gas engine they start pretty easy the first or second pull normally. Mine normally starts first pull, but it does take a little more to pull it.
Be patient and the right deal will present itself.
How soon do you want to buy one.
    Would you consider used.
I probably have a couple saved on my computer as I buy and sell quite a few honda products.
The only one I have I think needs the pressure regulator as it will jamb up when you try to pull the start cord (release pressure and it fires right up), but once that's fixed it would probably work well for you.

Not in too big of a hurry but would like to get something for washing vehicles and house soon. As stated, I have one now that I got from a friend. May still play around with it but can't do much pulling of the rope, especially after falling the other day as it tears my back up bad pulling that recoil starter. Then there is the shoulder problem. Yes, I have grown to hate recoil starters.

The turbo tip sounds good; never used one. The washer I have now has 3 tips, depending upon how much pressure you want.

The turbo will have all the power of a stream (usually red) nozzle but spins the orifice so you generally get a 25-30 degree cone pattern out in front of the nozzle. On anything approaching 3000psi, it will tear stuff up so be careful!

Agreed 4 gpm is where I would start at. Most 4gpm washers have a 4000 psi unloader. Using a #4 orifice nozzle achieve's the 4000psi. Depending on what you're cleaning that can be too much
To control pressure while maintaining Max flo use a bigger orifice tip like on vinyl siding too much pressure will streak one quick. Also on turbo or rotary nozzles they can tear up stuff quick, great for concrete, heavy equipment etc. They will shred wood siding, decks, painted surfaces, basically keep them away from everything but concrete on house. Check out a company named Pressuretek they have a link named PressuretekU that will educate a person on everything power washing from what size machine to techniques for cleaning, a tip size chart for psi as you use larger tips, the proper chemicals that actually work on a given surface, technical explanations of the science behind the chemicals. Many pro contractors use this site, information on the site relates to homeowner/home cleaning to commercial cleaning. Any information is free like this forum. Their products can be purchased by the general public. For house washing mix check out elemonator mix ratios are explained there but I would be glad to help with it as well. I recommend a downstream injector to apply any cleaning agent. Downstreaming chemicals don't pass through the pump, also important. Checkem out in the world of pressure cleaning they're the real deal......

IMG_5188.JPG Sir Backwoods Savage I just bought a Greenworks Premium Electric 2000 PSI and I could not be happier-it comes with 4 tips, including the turbo tip which is great for concrete-I got it on sale at Lowes for 149., $50 off but I believe the sale has ended-Mind you I'm cleaning cedar totally re-doing my house-pics to follow but the bottom line is this-I have a gas PW and every year without fail would need something...B&S engine...blah blah blah---I never thought I'd be content with electric...pull it up at Lowes, read the reviews--I could not endorse it more-diff tips will allow it to do what you need IMG_5195.JPG

IMG_5183.JPG IMG_5186.JPG Thats how bad it looked-course new roof going on since the wind storm March 1 that ripped most of it off...the tree is a maple that my grandfather planted in 1956, it means more to me than the roof, I had to trim it back marginally. First touch by human hand...hope she heals well...and understands....

Dennis, I've got hundreds of hours....if not a thousand hours running various pressure washers. The more gpm the faster you will get done and the better your back will feel at the end of the day. These machines have A funny way of putting you leaning forward just enough to wear out your back quickly. Other users can vouch for that I'm sure.

A 3000psi 2.5 gpm will clean let's say a 8 inch swath at a certain speed. The 4000psi will clean a much wider swath faster than the 3000 without tearing chit up because you will be using a 40 degree tip from a further distance away instead of the 15 or 25 degree.

They make electric start pressure washers. That's what I'd look at for you. I'm in the buy once cry once camp. When was the last time you said "man....I wish I got a smaller tractor (example)?"

They also have pressure regulators on the higher psi units so you can dial it back but make sure this feature is listed as it's a harder to find feature.

Number one thing to look for is a quality commercial grade oil filled pump. Do not even think of an oilless pump. Don't get set on the psi either.....the number one thing is gpm. Not psi.

I've got a Ryobi 3100 with 'idle down' technology that never works. It is the spawn of Satan. I have a Karcher electric one that works great for what I need.

I'd give you the Ryobi, but if you want easy start/easy to use, then you don't want that POS.
