The time period on the pre-emergene will expire in three weeks, same time the weed n feed cycle is done. I am hoping to get some seed spread at that time before it gets too hot, otherwise the lack of grass will allow weeds to run wild again.

They keep the golf courses nice and green though.

What preemergent did you use. It is supposed to leave a barrier in the soil that lasts a few months.

If you want to reseed try bringing in some fresh topsoil. I did that in some small spots and it worked well.

Wait 90-120 days from application before seeding. The longer the better.

If it weren't for the fill it would be impossible to broadcast. Same reason they mix in lime for the big field broadcasters. Trying running 80lbs of seed to cover 40 acres with a Teragator without filler.

Oh I understand the need , just hate paying for 10% of useful product based on a 50# bag. I get concentrated liquid- add my own water. Sometimes I get lucky and can find stuff in crystalline form- then add water. Similar to how we use to handle manure from all winter- thin it out with water and spray it on fields- more uniform coverage don't need a lot of tilling/plowing afterwards either .

    Exactly.
I want the "weed", but not the "feed". That crap grows fast enough the way it is, no sense feedin it! :hair:
Course, my theory is if its green, mow it and call it lawn

My soil test kit is coming today, going to figure out all my levels and see what amendments I need. Going to do a jar test when I am at it.

At phenomenal cost. Most folks have no idea exactly how much $$ goes into a single golf green annually. And the harder your climate is, the more $$ you sink in grass farming.

    Post-Hole-Diggers are ok but I prefer a more traditional cup-cutter. :D:cheers:

I've been doing some working on the mower. I had to replace a damaged axle up front and went ahead and installed a new belt and a mulching kit while I was at it. I just got done getting the aerator assembled too.
