    Understood

hmmmmmm, although the welded post is likely fine, I think I prefer the setup that Pellethound and I have due to the weight of the cast iron door pulling on a welded post.

I would be interested to find out if any of those welds have failed. Probably not as the weight still sits on the "shelf"

Hmm, are they welded or at they cast? I haven't looked at mine since I put on the new door gasket a couple of years ago so can't remember. Anyway, I wouldn't lose any sleep worrying about if they would fail or not unless I left the door open during all of off season - for years.

Curious as to the year of your stoves as well as subsailor P61.

Its sometimes a PITA to get the door aligned for the pins to drop in, especially if you are tired when doing it. This setup is definitely easier.

The P68 is a 2008 and has the pins that used to pop up, but don't anymore. The P43 is a 2014 and has the new style door hinges.

My P68 is either 2008 or 2009, can't remember for sure but think it is 2009 and has the pins as well like yours. Also they dont pop up much anymore after cleaning and lubing-simple maintenance is all it needs.

The p series doors have a little weight to them , but not like the Accentra , it has some big azz hinges to support the full size cast door and they are inside the stove .

    I think it's a 2008 model. I bought it in March 2009, I believe.

My P68 was built Feb 2009. Maybe the 68 didnt get the change? At least not as early as the smaller stoves.

I am curious if the P61 and P68 differ in size of the unit's shell/door.

By looking at the Parts lists, the doors are different and the P68 has slick pins while the P61 doesn't. While these pics are from a 2014 manual, I checked online and they 2017 manual says the same thing

I guess that gives some validation to my suspicion of the possibility of door weight being an issue for the molded pin.
