The only thing that saw had done was the base gasket deleted, the exhaust widened significantly but not raised or lowered. (I think I wound up with it near an inch wide but you could probably go a tad more before running into the ring ends.) The intake was slightly widened and the muffler gutted with a 2nd screend port added.

The saw isn't obnoxiously loud, starts on 2nd-3rd pull, and runs all day with a MS250, even a bit faster depending on the chain. And there is a LOT more that could be done in that cylinder. I didn't touch transfers or port timing at all. Squish was at .044 (!!!) even with the gasket removed so I think the base could be cut a bit, the exhaust raised significantly (at least .040") and the intake/transfers hogged out a bunch. Raising the transfers after lowering the cylinder so far is going to be a must I think.

But alas, I will need better tools and a degree wheel before I get that kind of crazy with it.

Having trouble pulling the tank off. The two farthest back A/V mounts are not coming out. I have the flatheads about stripped. No room for Vise Grips because the head is recessed pretty good.

    Any ideas?

The 2 farthest back A/V mounts. Yes. Under black caps. Every cap is a mount.

Dex I went and pulled one of the plugs on the rear handle. Man I'm gonna have to think on that one?

When the air cover is off can u get behind it to cut it?

Only other thing right now I can think of is drill it out. And no I have no idea how you would do that in this case. This is the strangest setup.

Back to welding. Can u fill the cup half way with water and take a nut welded to a wire so that you can hold it in place around the stud then get enough of a tack weld to hold it as you use the nut to loosen the stud?

I shouldn't have to weld on it.. It should just come right out..

I ended up just ripping the actual rubber A/V mounts out and that left bough room to wiggle the tank free. After that, I started assembly. . . . It's now finished.

Once my daughter wakes up, I will take it outside and start it up.

Here are the differences in the cases... (almost none). The very front of the 58cc machine has little slots cut into case (looks like a Husqvara) and the 45cc is smooth (like Stihl) other than those subtle differences, they are almost identical. Definitely different, but are alike enough to have no problems lining up pieces/parts.

I agree you should not have to weld on it butit stripped so some other method was nneed ed. You also should not need to rid the rubber out either. These are not quality machines.

    But glad you got it.

Looks a good bit larger. More than just the cylinder.

Nope. Same size. Everything. The pics may look bigger or smaller, but they are not. All plastic mounts up as if it were on the other case.

I now have a factory dual port I don't need. Don't know if I should sell it? Or try to build up the 45cc case I have? Can get a tank kinda cheap. That's all I really need to make another saw?
