update, put the ebay carb on after setting L and H to baseline, same problem. Ill shoot some starter fluid down in the carb and she runs for just a second. Its like is not getting any fuel. Has new line and filter and new impulse line and now a new Chy-neese carb and new plug. What next? coil? lol
Have you checked compression? Maybe you're not getting any vacuum in the crankcase, if that's the case your carburetor won't get any fuel.....
No. I just put the whole saw back together. New oil seals, bearings perfect. Piston and ring good. Lots of compresssion. Take the plug out a lot less. So I added a new plug, imilse line, fuel line and filter as well as a new plug. Saw won't fire until I spray starter fluid in the carb and it will fire and when it runs out of spray it dies.
Have you pulled the screen on the muffler? On the 250 it's behind the sheet metal cover. Sometimes running excess or cheap oil or a really rich tune will plug up the screens.
Now take gasket off, make sure hole in metal plate is lined up with impulse hose port and gasket is as well.
I'm not trying to sound belittling at all, if I come off that way, I apologize, just trying to help you figure this out.
The carb is getting fuel. The new one has gas in it and the line is purged. I had to cap it with a torx socket so I think compression is good. Again, it fires and runs at about 3/4 throttle for 2 or 3 sec and then dies when I spray. Nothing unless I spray. Th well, that worked. Kinda. I have a off brand gasket because the stihl store didnt have that gasket. It fired with spray and I kept it running for about a minute. It wouldnt idle. Now, It wont crank on spray lol. Gettin closer!
haha man not at all. I know you are trying to help. Its getting closer. That hole was covered up partially tho. Im sure that had something to do with part of it anyhow.
Next I would try this, I would take bar and chain off if it isn't already, start saw, and immediately turn on its side on the clutch side and pop fuel cap loose, see if it'll stay running that way.
Just my opinion... I wouldn't run the saw w/ starting fluid. In fact, I'd stop doing that. Your starting fluid doesn't have any oil so you're running the saw without.
Not to mention it's REALLY hard on the compression system too. That's a lotta boom for a little motor. Carb cleaner is a better/safer substitute but still no oil so not a good thing to do repeatedly.
Set the choke, pull it over about 5-6 times. Remove the spark plug and see if it's wet. If it is, then you are getting fuel and I would clear the engine and reset the carb to initial settings.
