Looks like he took a grinder to the rakers & got into the tooth a bit.

Ohhh. Now I see it. He only used a phone for recording purposes and for a professional with 20000+hours of experience he should have better recording gear.

    And a Stihl

Yeah, he got into it a little but it was very consistent on all the teeth both sides. I was able to clean up the teeth on the other chains that still have the depth gauges intact.

So that would explain it, he got into the teeth on that chain with a grinder causing all the damage that I pointed out, and you cant file said damage out of the chain with a similar am out of work on other chains that have not had the rakers cut off, and the teeth hit at the same time.

Tell me if I understand your post correctly. These chains would have taken forever to correct with a file so I used the Harbor Freight sharpener to true them up and make them somewhat uniform. I file most of the season unless something happens like hitting a spiel, nail or fencing is embedded in the wood or if I hit a rock.

FYI, there is enough to slop in the pivot arm on the HF to compensate for the narrow wheel.;)

Honestly, it almost looks like he used some kind of jig to hold the tooth vertical and used a chopsaw on the thing.

I'm half joking with the chopsaw part, but the grinding marks look to be caused by a wheel that hasn't seen a dressing stone since install.

It looks like what ever he used was way bigger in diameter than it should of been.

And the slop can't really make up for the wrong wheel. I Have a HF grinder and both wheels. The right size wheel sharpens just that much better

If you can see the raker gap that easily with just a file laid across the top, there is no way to file the cutters enough to get back in spec. Trash that chain.

I'm not sure on your chain except that it doesn't look good.

I just had to post because this video is too good, seriously? Is that suppose to be a joke? Proof right there that you can't believe everything you see on the net. I gotta see if he's got any other videos.

I'll agree that the cutter was bumped with grinder while whoever was trying to perform some kinda wizardry on rakers. All the rakers are shaped differently

Believe it or not, I've watched tree guys in the field file rakers down like that. I've seen chains that bad come to me to be sharpened, they go straight in the scrap barrel.

I bet I know what he did, looks like he used an angle grinder to knock down the rakers, and accidentally bumped the point of the cutter.... it's funny the things people do to saws and chains!!!!!!!
