Measure the current distance of the Palnut on the motor shaft before removal - you will want to put it back in -exactly- the same place: location determines tension on the fan cage -> motor bearings! Don't scorch 'em! :bug:

I think I may be able to just lube the bushings... had a ton of dust and crud around the motor. I was using some Tri-Flow aerosol trying to quiet down the bearing noise but I may have only been lubing the dust mites. I lubed the bushings up good after cleaning the whole shebang with compressed air. I usually caulk around the fan housing to try to eliminate any air leaks and, maybe, pick up a little air flow. Going to wait an hour for the silicone caulk to dry... better to use that stuff as a gasket not an adhesive (in this case anyway!)...

Cool! On the tangential blower housing (open frame) on the Francesca, I found the telescoping spout from a 3-in-1 oil container works excellent for getting to the motor bushings, used it w/ the Anderol 465. Same deal cleaning, compressed air w/ a nylon brush.

Did it back in Sept., again in Dec., should do it again this week, w/ the amount the stove's been running.

Well it's back together and running... those motor bushings are still noisy but no longer squealing... think it may be time to bite the bullet and replace that motor.

Don't even want to think about what the tangential room air assembly would cost on the stove here..
    Fine Italian Craftsmanship. :makeitrain" :dennis:

    * 17 years, if original to Pepin (your stove), is a pretty good run though.

Well... on my way to Appleton, WI yesterday I swung past ESES to see what they could do price-wise on a new fan assembly for my St Croix... walked out with a whole new fan motor/blower assembly for $133.00 plus tax.

The new assembly has a different mounting system so I have a couple holes to drill but, for now, it's just sitting inside the stove set on high and quiet as a mouse. I should have replaced that motor five years ago but I didn't know how quiet this stove could be...

    Film at 11....

The ESES folks really helped us out when we needed replacement parts for the Ecoteck Francesca last year. They went the extra mile to make sure that the correct parts were identified & ordered, prices were excellent, great customer service - was just a great experience w/ their company here.
Glad to read you're getting it fixed up krooser. ( It's good for me they're not close, I'd be like a kid in a Candy Store.. :makeitrain")

    Hey Krooser
That blower is not the OEM or aftermarket blower especially if you have to drill mounting holes?
Do u have a pic of the motor tag?

No pics right now... the guy in parts said St Croix changed suppliers so the specs are a little different. It's an open frame motor... no mounting tabs at the ends of the fan housing... the base of the fan mount has provisions for four bolts.

    I'll snap a pic tonite...

No foam Don but we think alike... going to get some Sunday and fasten this thing down. Two weeks on NG w/o the stove keeping the house warm was all I could stand.

As I get older I like things warmer... when I owned my own trucks from '88 until '13 I used to sleep w/o the engine idling... couldn't stand to see my $$$ going up in smoke. I slept (still do) on a 12V heated mattress pad that keeps things cozy... if it got below zero I'd wear a stocking cap or a face mask! Now that I don't have to buy the fuel I'm not that hard core anymore.

Krooser I believe I saw you on a forum just a bit ago when I was looking for some info on a diesel fired Wabasco sleeper heater. Could that have been you ?

Maybe... I haven't been on any lately except Hank's Truck Forum... used to be heavy on the Trucker's Report when I owned my own trucks.
