It's burned. But I did whack er open. Still don't know, but my living room is 77 degrees! I do know that's a oak table in the background, that much I do do know! Thanks guys.

I was going to say, from the first pics, that it didn't look like wood at all. Looked like oatmeal. But I'll confirm oak now!
Oh, its gotta be oak then! If you have coals left that need burned down before reloading again, its definitely oak...
Yeah, it's oak. Gotta be pretty dry, got it already split the summer I moved in (July 2014). Been under cover since I got it. Also, it's 5 degrees here, there's always a huge coal bed for me to burn down!
