Not necessarily. Slim and I scrounged some pine a couple weeks ago. No needles. Ours was real knotty but looks like you got some good straight grained pieces. Any more pics? End grain?
I think it is Red maple - lots of Red maples around here have bark similar to your tree. The growth rings are wide, but Red Maple can grow pretty fast in good conditions.
I was leaning towards Hackmattack/Tamarack. If the limbs/crown shape looked like a pine without needles that's what it is
Most definitely not red maple or any maple that I know of. It could be tamarack. Hadn't thought of that.
