I have topped out at about 44 mpg with my corolla. And I wasn't babying it either. interstate speeds but also corn free gas.

With 56 mpg, that must be some kind of record!

Heading out for a fireplace change-out this morning.

Should be interesting...a real peach of a customer and a learning as you go sort of job! :picard:

    Good Thu to everyone.

Wow, that is awesome! And I was feeling good about my beat up Focus' (with 200,000+ miles) getting 32-34 mpg. And then the Harley gets 45. Would love to get 50+!

Yeah, that corn free gas doesn't hurt. Wish there was some around here that didn't come in a can :emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet: or wasn't like 60 miles away!

I always ran Shell high test in my bikes. That is corn free up here. Our Corolla gets awesome mileage as well. damm thing will last forever now, since the wife retired last December, she has put a grand total of 1366 miles on it. we bought it new in 2009 and right now it has 39,354 miles on it. They are like Timex watches used to be. Basic service and 1 battery have all we have had to put in both this one and the previous one. That one had 37,000 miles when we traded it in the 09'.

campinspecter brought up a good point. I was working with Imperial gallons. US gallons would be 47 mpg. So that would be at 80 kph or 50 mph with snow tires on and some wet roads. Still pretty impressive.

I have to run the hi-test in the Harley anyway - kind of miss the old Suzuki that got 60 mpg and then also just took the lowest grade gas. But it sucked for wind and rain and highway and being behind tractor trailers on regular roads - or even a line of cars :headbang: - so I don't really miss it that much.

Just made a house payment that puts me at half way through the loan. Just 5 years to go and I'll be free and clear!

Any way you can accelerate that?

Yes, I was going to mention the difference in gallons.

    That's still great mpg though.

They've been spreading out and repopulating areas that were hunted out decades if not hundreds of years ago. A bull, and then recently a cow were seen this fall at my cabin in the northwoods.
My dad, and Grandpa have never seen either in the woods of Wisconsin. It's a first for everyone up there.

Elk have been reintroduced to Wisconsin as well, but that was done by the DNR. The moose have done this all on their own.

In the short term no. We did a 10 year note to accelerate it in the first place. :)
