Welcome Wanefree ... yes you have an addiction.. it's OK.. it's a great way to get exercise and not too illegal.. however some neighbors complain about chainsaws in early morning hours:whistle:

Now on to some wife advice.. she might be the logical one but when there is a freezing rain event and you loose power or a cool damp in the winter you know rainy and 50 and you light that fire and give her a nice glass of wine (or her preferred beverage) you will be a hero.. then just explain that wet wood doesn't burn well and you were planning ahead to take care of her.. til then keep going!

    Welcome to the forum Wanefree.

That's a lot of tools for not needing a whole lot of wood. The thought did occur to me that perhaps you could set a trend and take a week's vacation in, say, December or January and head up north to helps out a few lad on their wood cutting. That would certainly feed your addiction! Have fun!

And to just clarify, we are not sick we're twisted. Sick makes it sound like there's a cure...

Well, we can still sweat but prefer not too as we do our cutting during winter months and if you sweat, you also can get very cold as you are probably very aware. We also take extra gloves with us to the woods and these aren't the little thin things either; pile lined we've found best. One of my tricks too is to take an extra pair but also put some soapstone blocks inside the extra pair to keep them nice and toasty warm. Dang, that really feels good when your hands get cold and/or wet. Shoot, we've also been known to take a Mr Buddy heater with us to the woods, especially when the wife is along to help.

I've been out many times in single digit temps, started out with the heavy coat and hat. Soon ending up with just a shirt and sweating cause we were working so hard. All is good if you keep working, If you stop for ten minutes the coat goes right back on, as the cold gets right back at you.:axe:As long as there is no wind, then maybe the coat never came off.
