I'm going to take it apart to clean off the cutting oil, then after it's back together, I'll give the screws a spritz of paint.

Looking good, that will look nice and neat with the screws countersunk.
I think the 1/4 20 screws were a gooder choice.
You could accidentally get some paint on the trailer, it wouldn't hurt :D

Looks real good papadave .....I've been quietly watching (I wouldn't comment) I can screw up enough of my own stuff so I didn't want to take a chance at your project.

You ARE doing great- consider your self proclaimed lack of metal working experience:).....I like seeing a plan coming together:thumbs:
And this thread contains great info for anyone else thinking of attempting the same operation. You're a leading reason for that, big papa:yes:

Shoot I just walked out and looked at the wood out there today and started sweating.
I didn't think I would have any sweat left after Saturday

Just came upon this thread and am impressed with your skills, Dave. First class job. Should do what it's supposed to and look good too. My son's stove could use one one of these. I'll have to show it to him.

I need to move another 1.5 cords into the shed. Kinda waiting for cooler weather.
Thanks, but it's far from perfect.
So, I did weigh it.........28lbs. without the back plate.
It's uh, sturdy. :dex:I can now officially and without equivocation say, it's built in the finest tradition of overkill-ness.

That's a really pro job, Dave. You might want to consider making and selling them.
