I know that's right, you can't leave anything out on the patio table or you end up picking it out of the pool or the bushes

Today I got the internal filter on/in, return filter on, detent valve on and pump assembly all together. Almost all done  but the Christening :drunk::cool:. I'm taking it to have the hydraulic lines done, I have a friend in the business who will make them real "spiffy"! :handshake: :) should be done by next Friday. It was 92* in the shade under the umbrella, I'm getting a Beer and a cold shower!!!

So WeldrDave is this the keeper splitter or the used one you scored? This one is looking good, my only nit pick is the log cradles, why not a wider wing (for lack of a better term)? And for a fixed wedge are you planning an outfeed table?

Keeping them both! Log cradles are size needed for my log I'll cut, very rarely do I go much bigger that 24" and the out feed tables will be two wheel barrows at the end of the splitter. "To me" less is more on it, usually I'm moving it around by myself in the yard, It will never go very far. :)

WeldrDave did you consider a valve between the tank and filter or the tank and pump for filter change or pump repair.

Actually Yes! The normal filter change is about 250 hours and I'm not so worried about draining the fluid out if needed. I thought about bracketing a valve and piping the filter in another direction but I wanted to keep it as compact in the back as possible. As strange as it may sound, I'm not to concerned with it. :) But very good point! Also, "Welcome to the forum"!!! Nice to have you here!

Sure as hell not been using it in this heat, I may as well talk about it.
Made it back in the early 80's out of junk. The toolbox is handy as I used to have to travel to the wood and there was never room left in the p/u for the saws & cans. It will stand up vertical but I hate bending over and the normal (horiz) operating height is about 3'. The beam is a (undersized) house beam, the engine is an old Kohler from a Gravely walk behind tractor. The knee operated valve allows me to cut off the fingers on the left hand while simultaneously squishing the fingers on the right hand. 9540 004.jpg DSCN3791.JPG

Would it be alright to post a website to a pile of splitters I've given a hand with that my buddy builds and sells? Actually helped him today and yesterday cutting material and building log lifts for the next 3. To much for me to build one but I like being able to help when work doesn't have any overtime for me.

hmmmm.. now THAT is something I wish I had on mine. I'm constantly loosing my small hatchet in the splitter trash... and it's too uncomfortable to wear on the belt...
