If it is a multi fuel you may want to check on corn or rye seed. I am going to use rye seed this year and have 4 ton ordered.

I noticed that the OAK isn't hooked up. Is this a big deal? They must have used it this way for years.....

    There is a Co meter

It should really be connected on a pellet stove. They have a combustion blower that needs unrestricted flow. That is achieved by pulling from directly outside.

This has been debated before , I don't have an OAK on either of my stoves , they both work fine and my house stays nice and warm , in some cases the OAK is required , by manufacturer or code install in a mobile home ..... and when I bought my 1st stove I asked about the OAK dealer said not needed so that's the way I went , and it works for me , plenty will disagree with that and that's OK

Let the great OAK debate begin!!! :D

My vote is OAK and I'm stickin to it. Far less negative in using the oaks than not. Negative house pressure that is. :p

I did have an oak on my previous jotul. The previous owner left it in the shed, but the flue goes right up the chimney. I'll have to investigate this..... thx

That stove requires an oak per the manufacturer.

I too would vote oak. However, in the really cold they can cause some issues in my experience.

The typical pellet burner uses up between 3-4 tons, depending on severity of winter, how well the house is insulated, and what temp you like to keep the room the stove is in. Could be more, could be less.

You should get the OAK hooked up immediately before burning season. Otherwise, you're using already heated air to feed the fire and send it up the exhaust. Also helps eliminate cold drafts. There is no down side to having an OAK hooked up. And Englander requires it in the owners manual of ALL it's pellet stoves.

There has been some frost build up on the oak itself. But the biggest issue is the ash kinda cakes up and the stove requires more cleaning. This only happens when we are in the low teens or colder.

We put on OAK in the only place suitable to avoid snow drifts, pellet stove still has problems.... Don't ask STB as its a different brand and different stove, but, he's in the know on mine anyway.

Oak it.....I believe, per the manual, it's a requirement. Plus you don't want to sent out air you just heated up the flue....just my $.02
