Jeep! Just Empty Every Pocket - That's ok fellas, my co-worker has a 2008 BMW X-3 that's in beautiful shape, but had a lot of these same issues! Best of luck and wish I could help more than poking fun at y'all!
Just Empty Every Paycheck It's actually been a pretty reliable vehicle. A couple brake jobs, new tie rod ends last year, and now the cooling thing. Still runs well. However, it IS a 13-14 year old vehicle. Rust has taken hold in a few spots. The body will probably be gone by next spring.
Yep that's exactly where it is, where I fixed it last time, I can open the door and push or pull on that boot and get the windows to work
Last time I used a little propane soldering deal, I'm sure I didn't get it hot enough that's why it came apart , poor solder job, plus it was winter, plugged in the electric soldering iron, got it good hot this time, all fixed now windows are working. Cut a piece of hanger wire to hold the boot up out of the way. Shouldn't have to take the door panel off Dave but, there is not extra wire to pull out there hard to get up in there
Saw a couple vids on how to fix that, and one took off the panel and I think he added some wire to alleviate strain.
So, Jeep running well now. When the last thermostat got installed, that guy put on so much sealant, it clogged up the passages pretty bad. It's all cleaned up with new coolant. Turned on the air coming home and took a dirt road going 30 MPH to see if would get hot....nope. However, it was only 71, but before the fix, that would have caused it to run too hot. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I think it's all good. Plan to go pick up a trailer full of straw this week (24 bales), so..........
Uggg. Super busy again today. Production meeting today in the afternoon, as every Tuesday. I will get to the bottom of this tomorrow. I swear.
Here's another goofy issue that happens that you can cut off at the pass. I had a check engine and codes for all O2 sensors. Plus the fuse blew. With the fuse blowing I was thinking short. Took me 3 days to find the problem. Way way in the back of the engine where the wiring loom crosses left to right there are 2 studs that stick up from the engine block about an inch. They can rub through the loom cover and wires causing a short. It's about a 10 cent fix with electrical tape and old antivibes from a saw or piece of hose fitted over the studs to prevent future shorts compared to the garage replacing all of the O2 sensors, fuse and CPU because nothing works which could have been hundreds
I remember reading about that on a Jeep forum. Hard to reach. I'll check it out when I change the plugs.
Yes, confirmed this with our senior field service engineer. The bolt pattern is the same on these. Pretty much industry standard. So any of these you find will work. We don't have any laying around, otherwise I'd gladly send you a couple, and keep spares for anyone else. TSC, fleet farm, northern tool, all should have these on hand.
Cool, thanks Horkn . I'm making a trip to the "big city" soonish, so I'll check TSC first. There's a Northern Tool there as well. If those don't pan out, I can order online.
I saw one for $6 the other day. Online somewhere, I can check my browser history if you can't find one locally.
Nice, but it's out of stock at my store. The upper mounting boss on that Speeco is thicker than mine. Maybe on purpose, eh? ETA: Just called the store in Gaylord, and they have one in stock. Might be a road trip.
So, made the trip to Gaylord today, and that TSC doesn't have one either. Wasn't a wasted trip, as I did some other shopping as well, but that ticks me off a tad. Anyway, I almost ordered the one from Energy, and the shipping was almost $20. Why? I'll find another source. Ebay was mentioned.
