Log to Cord Calc

Its been asked for a few times, but I finally wrote a log-cord calculator. You can find it at the bttom of the firewood calculator page. It is in beta and will get more features. Let me know how it works.

I think it needs to be converted to inches. At least the diameter, if it's possible to write it with two measurements.

 

Does the second calculator work on tree length?

 

You could fudge it with it. I will also be working on a full tree calculator eventually.

 

That is a planned feature, allowing you to pic your unit.

 

Does it estimate the "stacked" cords (which is preferable), or does it calculate the actual cubic feet of wood (which would under-estimate the stacked cords)?

Actual wood. It doesn't account for lost sawdust either.

 

It comes up with the same numbers I do if I manually calc......

I've added unit conversions. Feel free to doublecheck my math!

 

For estimation of stacked cordage I just consider a log to be square which adds in the air space and come out pretty close. Instead of pi*r squared I do 2*d times the length. Lost to sawdust has some significance, especially if you make noodles. Think of it as a sales tax.
