Good afternoon friends...welp... Been out there with that dammed old 61 fur a couple of hours now...tryin to tune it....I would get it tuned pretty good...then I would start losen it....it would get boggie on the top end...I would try to adjust fur it...then the low would get boggie...I would try to adjust fur that...then it would die...
I would start it...some time it would star rite back up....sometime I would have to choke start it and pull like hell...I had swopped the carbs a couple of time with the 266xp...same thing...so I started thinkin maybe a seal was bad on the crank...if the saw was warm...maybe a vacume leak there....so I was goin to change the carb one more time...I pull the fuel line...then the throttle linkage...I noticed fuel comin out of the line...so I hooked the line and linkage back up...started the saw...tuned it in pretty quick.... Rapped it...sounded good...then it started gettin boggie again...so I didn't do any adjustments to it..kept rappin it up...it would get boggyer...then you would let off the throttle... It would idle like a vac. leak....while it was in the Hi idle stage...I would flip if on its side still hi idlin....pop the gas cap...bingo...the idle would fall down to normal idle...tightin the cap...flip it over...it would run...snappy off the jump...then start boggin again...I did this 3 times in a row...same thang every time...go out first thing in the mornin...start right up...same thing....I think the tank vent is bad...when I started popping the fuel cap...then it would run good...I kinda started timin it in my head...it takes about 10 minutes to complete the boggie cycle... Before you have to pop the cap and it runs good again...did i exsplain that right and dose that make sense...if so...can I clean the vent...I have pulled them before...I really need to clean it...the nearest husky shop is 50 miles round trip and im broke....uggggggggggggggg...thank you...

Sure does to me. If it will run fine with the tank vented. I know it will do wacky things with one not venting. But I have not heard of one burping gas out of carb but maybe the gas was flowing out as it was expanding while hot and not running?

I guess you can clean it if you can get it apart. Not sure the design of yours ? I'd try to clean it and buy a new one next time I was in town. Or pull one off a parts saw...sounds like you may have a few?

You probably had to think because of all my typos. You had to think your way through what I wrote and what it should of said.
