You need two cameras on time lapse. One on top and one at the hearth.

    Here's some progress..

We didn't get it finished today as we ran out of daylight, but it's in the fireplace, hooked up to the SS liner.

The heavy lifting is done, and we had to use a angle grinder to cut off over half of the hardware to hold the damper plate at different amount of opening, but, if it were needed, it could either be welded back on, or the damper plate simply placed back up in the damper on an open position. It's all good either way. I hope it never needs to be used again.

I've got to level it, put the roxul down by the damper plate, put the face plate on it, then get on the roof again, and seal the top plate on the chimney with some more insulation at the top of the liner under the top plate. I need to also cut off the excess SS liner, and put the cap on.

Tomorrow looks good for weather as well, so this should be no problem.

This is almost creepy. You have damm near the setup I have. Audi wagon, 029, 4000i with raised hearth and all.

Hopefully tomorrow night I'll have a small fire. It's only 38 now out. Plus after my nice hot long shower, I've got no need to start a fire tonight. Now, hell yeah I'd have a fire if it were done tonight.

Yeah, just ran out of steam today. I need more insulation for the top cap. So running into town was my point where I hit the wall.

So, do I need roxul for the insulation at the top? Or is regular insulation OK, obviously no paper backing.

Id use roxul. But honesty it won't be that hot up there. Your choice. If it were to mean buying a whole new package of roxul id just use fiberglass.

OK, I had a piece of this after my wife made her recently famous sesame chicken dinner. My wife made this last night. Cherry pie.

She does the sesame chicken as good as the Chinese restaurants do, and it's all homemade.

But here's the insert as it sits now.

I'll be leveling it, getting the fan unit back on, and then putting roxul on the damper area and putting the face plate on during some Christmas movies we have dvr'd.

All leveled and ready for the face plate

Here's the surround on after I got the roxul in the damper. IMG_20151205_194707851.jpg

    Then I got impatient.

    Now, IMG_20151205_212611226.jpg

The fan even on high is quieter than the fan on the wood rack of my fireplace.

Yeah, I don't have the top plate or cap on.

    That'll go on tomorrow.

    It's nice and warm.

That's only with 4 splits of sugar maple in it.

Like I said, I didn't want to go overboard on my first fire. Plus it's not that cold out tonight.

Yeah dude, she's sitting directly in front of the insert now, watching SNL.:fire:

I have it about 3/4 full of sugar maple now.

She says the insert really updates the room. Love it. Happy wife, happy life.

Yes, its a huge weight off my shoulders.
